On the Mickey Rooney issue, however, I think his relatives may have reason to sue over Exploitation of a Not-Longer-Fully-Cogent Man.

Of course, I cannot recall at period within my lifetime when Mr. Rooney EVER WAS fully cogent.

    So.

Why DO people clap at the end of a movie? Never have gotten that little sociological tidbit.

To show that they enjoyed it.

Same reason they laugh, cry, cover their eyes, or let out a gasp while watching a movie.

The answer, "to show enjoyment," begs the question, "to show enjoyment TO WHOM?" To the hourly employees who swoop in to sweep up the trash you've left behind? To your fellow moviegoers (WHY?)?

    BRAD PITT CANNOT HEAR YOU!!!

I think that is why people clap when they get to the end of a really good movie.
