My daughters older sister’s mom (ok…to simplify because we confuse a lot of people with this one…my ex is her ex J)

So workshop day has arrived. I found out last night the girls needed to have their hair done as if it were performance day (slicked back ponytail, with tons of curls). So we get up early, have some breakfast and start on the hair. This takes approximately 1 ½ hour to get both the girls done and wouldn’t you know it a whole travel size bottle of hairspray in the hopes the curls would last until the workshop. Well the hairspray didn’t work and when we got to the drop off point about an hour later, the curls were almost completely gone! Hehe…it was ok though because some of the other dancers had found out it would be ok to just have a French braid instead of show hair. So off the girls go for the workshop and off we go to the really scary rides!

So my brother and I check out the Haunted Mansion Holiday and when we get out realize we can’t find the girls older sister and her mom. We check around and decide we’ll find them eventually and head off to Splash Mountain. Now I’m not one who likes not being able to control what I’m riding in so every time we started climbing on the ride I would turn to look at my brother and tell him I was so gonna kill him and he would just sit there and say well you’re stuck now ha ha. We had a blast on it!

We finally find the girls sister and her mom and decide to head over to Disneyland California for the roller coaster. Hehe…so we get in line and I’m freaking out already. We finally get on and it starts off nice and slow to the actual starting point. All I hear is hang on here you go (or something like that) and next thing I know I’m plastered to my seat and I am screaming like you wouldn’t believe! Come to think of it I didn’t stop screaming until the ride actually stopped! Hehe…the girls sister’s mom is sitting beside me and kept saying its ok….we’re almost done…we’re fine… etc. It was awesome!

So we stagger off that ride and its time to head back to Disneyland to pick the girls up. My brother heads off to pick up the girls as my feet are screaming sore and while we are waiting we check out a few games and one more ride. I thought the girls might like the Mulholland Madness ride, but after watching it whip around I figured I’d better try it first. Well that was a mistake! We really didn’t like that ride. Every time we turned a corner it felt like we were actually going to fall off the track. Not in a silly watch it kind of way, but in a serious this is going to lose the track kind of way. Even the girls older sister wanted off it in a bad way and we’re talking about a girl who went on the California Screaming 6 times (twice by herself) and the Maliboomer 2 times (once by herself). Not one of us felt secure in that ride at all.

So we meet up with my brother and the girls and head straight over to the Ferris Wheel. My younger daughter says she wants the moving gondola and after about 5 or 10 minutes of trying to talk her out of it we give up and get in our lines (my older daughter and I in the line up for the stationary gondola). Of course the line for that one was way shorter so we got on way before the others did. I realize by the time we got to the top on the first go around that there is nooo way my younger girl is going to like the moving gondola. So when we get off I’m trying to signal to my brother and the girls sisters mom to get my younger girl out of the line because she really was not going to like it. Of course they were stuck in line and couldn’t get out (I don’t think my younger daughter would have left anyways) so I’m trying to tell them to get her dance jacket off because I was worried she would actually get ill in it and if she didn’t have the jacket the next morning she would not be dancing (it was a cover for the dance costumes they would be wearing the next morning). So they finally get on and off they go. I take my older daughter to the bathroom to get her changed out of her workshop clothes and we get back to the Ferris Wheel. The others finish their ride and off they come and when my younger daughter sees me she runs into my arms and starts saying she really really didn’t like the ride and they wouldn’t let her off, etc. See the first time it went around freaked her out, but she thought she was only going around it once so she refused to cry or anything. Well, of course it goes around a second time and I guess she really freaked out saying she wanted off and she didn’t like the ride, etc. but of course there wasn’t much to be done but ride it out. So I get her calmed down and she says she needs to go to the bathroom so off we go. Well as soon as we got away from everyone else, my younger daughter tells me “mom I think I pooped in my underwear I’m sorry, etc†so as I’m trying really hard not to laugh and I tell her it was ok (turns out she didn’t much to both our relief). So I get her changed out of her workshop stuff and we go back to the others. We hang around the games and get faces painted while my brother and the girls older sister go off to ride the roller coaster again. My daughters both had swans done (with some minor differences) and I had some small butterflies done and my ex’s ex had the butterfly mask done. Well, about two hours later we realize my younger daughter no longer has her dance bag...which have her dance shoes in it…which means if we don’t find it she doesn’t dance the next day! Oh boy what a panic! I head back to the bathroom because that’s the last place I remember seeing it while everyone else searches around the games area. I see someone just starting a clean up of the bathroom and ask her about the dance bag. I was so impressed by this lady because she stopped what she was doing and checked around and called around but had no luck finding the bag. She was extremely helpful though and seemed really upset she couldn’t do more to help. So I head back to the group trying to think of how I’m going to tell my younger daughter she was not dancing the next day and I look up and see my ex’s ex nodding her head and smiling and giving me a thumbs up. So I’m thinking great they found it!!! Well I get over to them and it turns out we had left if on one of the benches and someone had sat on it and turned it into one of the people managing the games. Well, before the girls went to their workshop I had been worried they would get hungry so I have this oh-so-brilliant idea of sending a snack with them…ok…so a banana was sooo not the best thing to send along as a snack! Note to self…next time we go to Disneyland…NO BANANAS!!! Hehe…the whole inside of the dance bag is covered in banana, the jazz shoes are covered in banana and a t-shirt that was given out after the workshop was covered in banana. And the worst part of it all? When the girls had finished their workshop and their shoes and stuff had been put away, someone had mixed up the girls jazz shoes. The bag that was lost had my older daughters shoes in it, not my younger daughters shoes! So it would have been my older daughter who would not have been able to dance, not my younger daughter!

So after all that excitement it is time to meet the dance group at Goofy’s Kitchen for dinner. Man that was awesome!! Pluto greeted all of us and we got pictures with him. The interaction with Pluto was so cool!! Pluto played with everyone and really got to playing with my younger daughter (she’s definitely a little social butterfly and kept sneaking up on Pluto). The food was great and it was so fun there! We watched Goofy do the Macarena and near the end saw Goofy and Captain Hook chase each other around the restaurant. We got a lot of pictures and autographs with the Characters. We saw Chip & Dale (Dale by the way wrote on our table that Dale was better than Chip, after Chip had already been to our table of course), Belle, Minnie Mouse and I believe a few other characters. The only downside was when we went to get our pictures that were taken with Pluto, we had a mix up. The lady helping us saw we had like three photopass cards so she offered to put the pictures all on one card which was so nice of her. Well I paid for a picture and she put the pictures on one card and we left…without our picture! While the lady went about putting our pictures on one card I think she forgot to get our picture that we paid for (honest mistake) and I didn’t realize until the day we were leaving. I’m not sure how I can go about getting the picture or if its too late?

After dinner we did a little shopping. My older daughter picked out a Minnie Mouse stuffy and my younger daughter got the Year of a Million Dreams Ears and some lollipops. Of course now that we’re home my older daughter wants a pair of the same ears and now I can’t find them anywhere online to order…any suggestions?

I also had picked some beautiful crystal souvenirs. A Beauty and the Beast Rose in a jar (like in the movie) and this pretty etched fairy child in a forest. I was so sad though because the rose stem had broke in our trip back to the hotel. It still looked pretty so I figured I would still give it to my older daughter (Rose is her middle name so she loves roses) for Christmas. But in our trip back to Vancouver on Saturday it broke so much I can’t give it to her now. Like the petals broke off and the leaves broke off…I think its way past repair.

So we end the night after the shopping. We head back to the hotel for the pool and relaxation.

I'm glad that you found the dance shoes but what a scare.

For the ears, why don't you try LP store. I'm pretty sure there is an e mail address where you can request something specific. They go directly to the park to purchase and there is a shopping fee. I'm sure they'd be happy to help you if they can :)
