So says Christian activists who call the atheist advocacy groups the administration met with today, "hate groups."

Note: Obama did not meet with them. The administration announced no new policies or policy changes surrounding the meetings. Apparently, even being in the same room with atheists is enough to draw the ire of some.

As opposed to the usual custom of hosting some of the biggest religious zealots in the nation.

    *sigh*

I am telling you that it scares me just how uninformed and unable the country has become to actually govern itself. Almost no one is able to see outside the box to what the real issues are. I've seen it in government and more often now, in business. Knee jerk reactions to everything. Was this taught in schools, by parents or where? The immediate need is all that is noticed, never decisions that take care of the future.

Why be pro-active when you can be immediately noticed by being reactive. I'm thinking that the system has failed tragically and, if you know history at all, we won't have to worry about being a world power much longer. I feel sorry for my children and grand children. Unless something changes drastically this is going to be an awful place to live over the next 50 years. It is so sad that common sense cannot be taught. Does anyone know of a large piece of land where we can sail to and start over? Maybe this time, not kill off the entire population that already exists there?

Religious zealots feeling that everyone must believe what they believe to the point of killing people that disagree (and I'm not just talking about foreign terrorists here). Constantly pushing and pushing trying to make everyone conform to their way of thinking. When you think about the fact that this country was originally formed to allow people to have religious freedom, it is scary at best. That is also the freedom to not be religious folks, isn't it?

Just look at how many companies became tombstones over the past few years, LARGELY from their own actions, as definitive proof of that!

I would say that's a pretty trite outlook on the issue.

According to the vast majority of religious types, no. That's NOT your freedom to have. You have freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. You have to pick one. A past President has even indicated that the non-Religious aren't even actual citizens at all (George H.W.)!

I agree, we won't last much longer.

Empires take time to build, but they can collapse very quickly.

I blame Madison Avenue. Seriously. Appeals to reason were found to be far less effective than appeals to emotion, so appeals to emotion are what we've been getting for decades.

We are poor little sheep who have lost our way. Bah bah bah.
