I admire him for doing this while weighing the decision about troop levels.

Sadly, the guy that actually started the wars didn't seem to want to bother (unless they received dead soldiers in Crawford, TX and I didn't hear about it).

Go ahead, google up "Bush travels to Dover" and see what you get. It's quite telling.

Sorry, but I still blame him for the continuing mess we're in, though I'm thankful we now have a President who is at least TRYING to fix it (and getting crapped on from all sides in the process, to boot).

Considering this President is only doing it for a photo op isn't something to get excited about either...

No because we have no idea how Bush may have honored fallen soldiers. Perhaps he felt it was something that shouldn't be used as a photo opportunity(and I won't cast that aspertion on Obama either).

Don't be so quick to jump on DAR, Mr. X. What I THINK he meant is that he wouldn't argue about Bush not going to Dover, because he can't defend that position (i.e. he agrees with you).

I think it's great that they relaxed the ridiculous (even Orwellian) ban that the first Bush imposed and the second Bush tightened on photographing coffins coming into Dover.

One of my biggest fears of having President Obama elected was the fact that he doesn't like to make decisions that could hurt him politically... We are seeing an example of this with his indecision on Afghanistan...

Don't you guys get anything but Fox News on base?

As for your opinion, you're certainly entitled to it. But I myself would be loathe to criticize the Presidents motivations on something as solemn and grave as this. It reminds me of the right wingers that were bitching on 9/11 because the President "couldn't be bothered to go to New York". (he went to the Pentagon instead)

I dont watch any news, except for the occasional glance to Headline news, I get my news from multiple sources on the Internet...

President Obama is waffling on this decision on Afghanistan, it has been months since he got the report, plenty of time for him to make a decision or not. In all honesty, I could care less either way on what he decides, but he needs to actually make a decision eventually on whether to send more troops, cut and run, or hold steady...

    Wouldn't a non-answer mean "hold steady"?

And why is this so important to anyone except his opponents anyway? He could simply wait a while and while he's waiting, status quo it is.

Like Bush (as Dabob pointed out).

Seriously, I think you believing he "needs" a photo op at this time means that you think what Dick Cheney and Fox News happen to be complaining about this week actually matters.

    I don't think it does.

And fwiw, there are a lot more options than the three you came up with.
