We had breakfast at the Concierge Lounge and took off for our day at California Adventure! There’s a special entrance for guests of the Disney hotels.

Met with Goofy and Mickey for a photo and autograph (Disney Visa meet ‘n greet—free 5 X 7 photo) and then went to A Bug’s Life for rides:
    • Flik’s Flyers – FUN
    • Bumper cars – Grandaughter drove!
    • Heimlich Chew-Chew – you have to be there to understand…

On to Ariel’s Grotto for a Princess lunch. Ariel, Belle, Mulan and Snow White were there. Grandson burrowed into my shoulder and refused to come out, pretending he was asleep. Mulan said that Mu Shu does the same thing when he is shy! Son-in-law wanted Grandaughter to ask Belle if the Beast has bad breath but Grandaughter decided that was too much. She did ask Snow White if Grumpy was grumpy all of the time and Snow White said – no – especially not when I give him my gooseberry pie!

Daughter, Son-in-law and Grandaughter went on Soaring Over California and RAVED about it when they got back. Daughter said it was the best ride EVER. So, I reluctantly went on it with Daughter. Reluctantly because Daughter and Son-in-law have lost all credibility with saying that a number of rides weren’t scary: Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. But in this case, they were right. It was the best ride EVER! Breathtaking panorama of California scenes. You feel like you are hang-gliding over the state!

Daughter, Son-in-law, and Grandaughter then went on the Grizzly River Run and Grandaughter was scared into tears. Another credibility problem…! Daughter brought panchos from the dollar bin at Target so they stayed dry except dear son-in-law wouldn't wear his. Lady behind them in line offered to buy it from them but of course they gave it to her.

Grandson and I went to the Redwood Challenge Trail and had a blast – until we ran into the Bear – yet another credibility issue!

Son-in-law, Grandson and Grandaughter went to water play in A Bug’s Life and had lots of splashy fun. We then went to a show “It’s Tough to be a Bug†and were amazed with the clever 3-D special effects. Again, too scary!

On to the Aladdin show. Had preferred seating vouchers and got there 1/2 hour early but all the preferred seating was gone by that time. Totally Broadway quality although cut short by “technical difficulties.†It sounded worrisome but we tried to think the best.

Dinner at the Rainforest Café. What a riot of jungle madness! Elephants, parrots, gorillas, butterflies, rain and thunder, fish, etc.! Son-in-law presented Daughter with a stylist silver necklace and earrings as a thank you for organizing the trip so well. SO well deserved!

"Tough to be a Bug" is a hoot, but we'll be sure to sit by the exit next time just in case.

I didn't know that the "bears" were out in Redwood Trail.
