Chip and Dale, Terk the Gorilla, etc. Daughter and Son-in-law bought her an autograph book so she was getting the characters’ autographs as well! Grandaughter ate a BIG breakfast. On to Disneyland. Peter Pan was fun for everyone except Grandson. On to Dumbo – fun for all. I went with Grandson and he refused to put the controls down. I think he will be a pilot. The boy loves the sky. On to Casey Jr. Railroad ride. We all like that as well. On to the Carousel and Tea Cups (where Grandaughter was a bit grouchy). We go to Pirates and Grandaughter and Grandson are both terrified. Grandaughter says she will NEVER go on that ride again – even if she is 605 years old! Lunch was lovely at the Blue Bayou (reservations needed 6 months in advance). I had jambalaya. Split it with daughter but portion was not as large as we'd heard. It was quite good – a nice nostalgic taste of New Orleans. We went on to tamer adventures -- the Jungle Cruise and then to the Tikki Hut to see and hear the singing birds. FUN!!!!! Son-in-law bought us pineapple ice cream, which was delicious. We then took the Disneyland Railroad all around the park – it was nice to get our bearings and it was relaxing to ride the train. Very crowded. Back to the hotel to go swimming! There are two large pools. One without slides and one with a large slide and a tiny slide. A baby pool is there as well as two hot tubs. Grandaughter mastered both slides immediately. It was late in the day so the pool felt chilly to Grandson so we did not stay too long. Dinner at the Concierge Lounge. Fried wontons filled with a savory meat mixture. Everyone ate lots of them! We eventually went downstairs and played with the children until story time. Grandaughter and I worked on her homework for first grade. Yikes, there is a lot of homework! We went back upstairs at 8 a.m. to have cookies and milk (children) and hot chocolate and/or Bailey’s Cream for the adults. Story Time was lovely. A nice lady read from a book of 365 stories. She chose a small tale from the Jungle Book and another from Winnie the Pooh. Grandaughter fell asleep in the middle of the stories and the other children all around her. Both children were carried to bed. Note: Concierge level includes free DVD rentals.
