Breakfast at the Concierge Lounge – first time. Absolutely delicious.

Off to Disneyland! Very crowded but we are used to it by now and had early entry to Toontown today. Son-in-law and Grandaughter went on Alice in Wonderland while Grandson and I sat it out. Then the 4 of us went to Small World while Daughter went for “fast passes.†On to ToonTown. Daughter, Grandson and I went on the roller coaster. Grandson said it was fun but did not want to go again. We all went in Goofy’s playground and then the Roger Rabbit ride (too scary for the little ones!).

Lunch at the Café Orleans – I had gumbo (delish) and jumbo barbecued shrimp salad. Yummy. Daughter and Son-in-law had Monte Cristo sandwiches. Grandaughter liked the monte cristo pb&j.

Haunted Mansion was next – another mistake. Grandson trembled and Grandaughter cried. Grandson later said it was boring (right….).

We went to Buzz Lightyear (fast passed it) and that was a BIG hit. EVERYONE loved it, including me! We had laser guns and had to shoot targets on the ride – I made 3rd rank with 25,400 points!

Daughter and Son-in-law went to Indiana Jones (still a big line even though they had fast pass) and I took the children for ice cream at the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Shoppe on Main Street. Also got 2 bouquets of Mickey Mouse lollipops because both Grandaughter and Grandson wanted pink!

Bought 2 Halloween books at the Compass Book Store in Downtown Disney. One was a pop-up book for Grandson that became a favorite throughout the rest of our time there. He read it, I read it, we read it together – zillions of times! The other book was a book of Halloween jokes for Grandaughter. We had fun reading them aloud and trying them out on Daughter and Son-in-law. Also a postcard for my husband and my father and Grandaughter to send to her school.

Back to the hotel and ran to the pool with Grandaughter. So much fun swimming with Grandaughter! She is a water girl. Then she went on the large water slide a million times and I watched. Happy, happy times.

Son-in-law arrived with Grandson and Grandson and I went in the other pool and swam and swam and laughed and splashed.

They finally left for the Scavenger Hunt (“grand questâ€) at the hotel and I stayed behind to sit in the sun and catch up on my journal. Lovely.

Just reconnected with the gang. Grandaughter and Grandson won the hotel Scavenger Hunt! They got a Mickey Mouse cookie at the Whitewater Snacks. Time to go upstairs.

Went to the Concierge Lounge and had a delicious dinner and talks. Kim, the singer, was there with bedtime songs--He sang "This land is your land," "You are my sunshine" and "Grandma's feather bed."

We are always so busy running around the parks that we don't seem to enjoy what the DLR hotels have to offer. I need to keep that in mind next time.
