Anyone know of any spots where you can take a hard turn and hop the track?

Or an area away from the prying eyes of CM's where I could physically pick the car up off the track and go off-roading with it?

    Also, anyone ever done this?

Thanks, I'm hoping to reinvigerate my love for this attraction.

Any CM's or former CM's with inside info?

    More!!! More!!! More!!!

I can only dream of that type of Autopia excitement.

Someday, I'll get that car off the track and ride it down the service road by the back monorail tracks. Try and stop me Disney!

You can easily see the divisions in the segments when you walk over them on the way into the queue. I doubt it would be very easy to get them to go down (I assume they're done on hydraulics or something pretty sturdy) and it would be tough to do with so many CM's so close to you, but that would probably be the easiest area...

Hi crazycroc! One of my close friends used to be one of the mechanics that worked on the Autopia cars. He's told me a few stories of exactly what you just mentioned, the only difference was that he had disengaged the speed governor...

Actually, SBSBelle22, it's much longer now as it combined/modified the Tomorrowland and Fantasyland Autopias some years ago. :)

When you ride it again, you'll see some cool little "nods" to the past and some goofy jokes. And as mentioned, there's a neat little off-road section now.

Fun stuff - especially for young drivers who can hardly wait to drive a real car! :)

I have fond memories of a car ride at Knott's Berry Farm (this is the 70s now) that did not have a middle track but had "bumpers" on either side of the track with side bumpers on the cars. I think there was quite a bit of distance between the two sides which gave some maneuverability to the cars - - exciting for a kid.

Anyone from my age bracket or older who remembers that Knott's attraction?

I don't remember the street names but I seem to recall the ride went down the street the front entrance is facing and then went down almost to an intersection before coming back. It doesn't seem to me that the track was any more than an elongated oval.

Or an occasional real character standing by the road hitch hiking and could climb in on single riders ..... or have the characters pull into the loading and pick up a single kid to ride with them.
