Rumors are Leap Day, Feb. 29th, both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park will be open for 24 hours. Thoughts?

I like the idea! I feel like it would be neat to be riding Jungle Cruise at 2:30am

Here's what the site actually says:
    >>On December 31, 2011, tune in to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest on ABC or Univision Television Feliz 2012 hosted by Don Francisco live from Disneyland Park for a special announcement. Check your local listings for exact air times.

Disney Parks will be celebrating like never before!<<

(Although I will say-- gotta love the Marketing Talk!)

    Somehow I doubt that.

But Disney has to hype the news, build up expectations in the rabid fan community, and then deal with the mixture of honest disappointment and self-inflicted excitement.

    Poor, poor CMs.

And I can only imagine how the maintenance guys feel. They're hard pressed as is to keep things running when on a normal schedule with the dangerously low staffing, I can only imagine what this will do.

I won't. I loved doing the dirty spiel.

Honestly, if Disney ever had a crowd that might benefit from being open 24 hours in my opinion that event would be best suited on either Christmas Eve, New Years Eve or both. Not some obscure evening in February.

If Disney offers a free day, it would make the cost of the vacation package more affordable. How else can Disney offer a price that people can actually afford currently without appearing as if Disney is discounting their brand. Throw in a free meal plan and I am sure families would consider a Disney vacation within reach of their budgets instead of something just on their wish list.

I say "one more Disney Day" will be an add on to a WDW property stay.

Maybe even THEY now consider a day wondering Hogsmeade as a "Disney Day"!

Plus it gives them a press release and a bit of hype and seems like they are doing SOMETHING, when in fact it's a pathetic NOTHING.

It's indicative of the marketing campaigns of the last decade where they throw up some glittery banners and pendants and announce "Year of a Million Dreams" or "Hundredth Anniversary Since Walt Graduated Kindergarten" rubbish and expect people to book packages based on THAT.

It's all nonsense but unfortunately Ralph and Susan and the kids from North Carolina and Fred and Doris and family from the UK fall for it EVERY TIME and make TDO think they can keep the Emperor pantsless for next to nothing!
