We decided in Jan 2005 to finally plan a trip to Disney (Jan 2006). My rule was to take all of my grandchildren to WDW as soon as they turned 5. Destinee was lucky to be in Cinderella’s castle on her 5th birthday. There were a few complications in 2005, so Ty did not get there. We decided to take all of the kids at once! We left Logan airport at 8am on a Saturday morning. It was the first flight for my stepdaughter and 2 of her children. Unfortunately, it was a turbulent ride. I was never so happy to land at an airport in my whole life. We went directly to ME and were surprised that there were NO LINES! Amazing for 11:15 on a Saturday. We boarded our bus and arrived at ASMO in 45 minutes… Then the fun began. Our reservations were for 7 nights with 7 day park hoppers attached. Well, the room was reserved ) although not the section that we requested…but no park tickets. The CM informed me that I ONLY had reserved a room, not tickets. Luckily for me I had my receipt from the Disney reservation center. But, even this did not make a difference! She told me that I would have to rebuy the new tickets (at the new higher prices) and they would sort it out later. I almost lost it, but just replied that I needed to talk to her manager. They finally managed to straighten it out and we were on our way. Not a great way to start a vacation, but I just tried to smile and anticipate the rest of our trip. We had reservations (Fantasmic Package) at Mama Melroses…so off to MGM. It was COLD and WINDY. The food and service at Mama’s was great. We walked over to Fantasmic and waited. Luckily we had prepared for the cold. The kids really didn’t feel that they were at Disney until they saw Mickey and the Princesses. We filed out with the crowd, got on the bus and settled in for a big day tomorrow. The Magic Kingdom! Day 2 – The Magic Kingdom Everyone was up early and eager to get to the park. I realized that I really wanted the kids to see the castle from the ferry for their first look…So, we took the bus to Epcot, hopped on the monorail to the transportation area and boarded our ferry. We were lucky to get on the top floor at the front of the ship. My step-daughter was more excited about this experience than all of the kids. She had never been as a child and was really looking forward to this experience as an adult. The look on her face when she saw the castle was worth the whole trip. We got our stroller at the new stroller station and proceeded to Main Street. The most enjoyable thing about this trip for me was the fact that we decided to just enjoy the experience and really take time to “stop and smell the roses†The kids immediately got into the character lines! It was not very crowded and most of our rides were walk ons….all day! We took the kids to see the parade. Airelyce just screamed and screamed at all of the characters. She was so beside herself with excitement. Watching her was worth the price of admission. We stayed until “Wishesâ€, but opted go on POC…again no lines. We rode it twice! Everyone was exhausted so….out the gate and back to ASMO.

The joy in everyone's face is what brings me to tears. I have been to WDW so many times that I still get teary eyed when I walk down Main Street USA and see the castle. My parents are going with us this December for the first time in their whole lives and I just can't wait. I hope everything is ok with your grandson TY? I would love to hear about the rest of your trip. Post it if you have time.

I know how special that view is. I cried like a baby the first time I saw the castle from the ferry, even though I was 39-years-old at the time. I've never taken the ferry to the MK again, though I've taken it from the MK back to the TTC. I want that first memory of seeing the castle from the ferry to remain as it is forever. It maybe sounds really stupid, but it was one of more memorable moments of my life.

We too saw the castle for the first time from the ferry, and it was sooooo magical!!! My husband was videoing, and I remember telling him that I was so excited I felt like jumping up and down. But I didnt' want to make a spectacle of myself However, I did have to fight back tears, and again while walking down main street. Experiencing WDW for the first time with your own children, your hubby, AND your parents was just so special! Geez, waiting until Nov. 07 to go back will be such a long wait. <<It maybe sounds really stupid, but it was one of more memorable moments of my life.>> This doesn't sound stupid, I agree with you 100%
