So this weeks question will come to you in two parts. Part one will be this weeks question and then the second part will be next weeks question. What is the question you are asking yourself? Imagine that this person who's never seen a disney film wants to know what Top 5 Disney animated films would you suggest in order for them to get what Disney is all about. So what would you tell them? My list: 1) Pinocchio. I could have put Snow white here but, i just feel this movie is more of an accomplishment. 2) Bambi. This film beautiful and you connect to it emotionally. 3) Robin Hood. I know its a weird choice, but i feel this movie shows the movies that were being done at this time in disney film history. ie. rescuers, aristocats, sword and the stone. 4) Beauty and the Beast. This film showed the newer direction that disney was going in at his time. 5) Finding Nemo. even though I have my feelings about "computer animation" this film is the closest thing that would show what I believe a Disney film would be if Walt were alive today. thanks everyone, part two will be next monday.

Peter Pan - one of my personal favourites, and to me it really shows what Disney is all about. 3. Sleeping Beauty - everyone needs to see a "princess movie" to really understand Disney, and Sleeping Beauty is my favourite of the lot of them. As a bonus, it has Maleficent! 4. The Little Mermaid - to show them the "new age" of Disney animation. 5. The Lion King - this came out when I was 12 and was one of the movies that really got me into Disney, so I'd have to show it to this uninitiated friend.

I guess I would say: 1)Cinderella. This movie embodies the Disney message: "No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing..." You know the rest. 2)Bambi. IMHO, this is the Disney movie with the most heart. The sadness of this movie reaches you at a deeper level than the sadness of, say, Snow White "dying" because we know Snow White will be awakened by love's first kiss. And that kind of pain and sadness is something that's often missing from Disney films. 3)The Little Mermaid. This was the movie that started my love of Disney, and I think it can have the same effect on anyone. 4)Toy Story. Still my favorite Pixar movie, and, however any one may feel, Pixar is and will continue to be a very important figure in the Disney company. 5)The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This movie is unlike any other in the Disney canon. It is so above the heads of most children, that I think it proves one of the fundamentals of animation: It's not just for the kiddies!

The Rescuers: Talking mice are a big part of Disney, and the story is much less epic than these others. Also plenty of pathos with Penny. Tarzan: I hope it will blow them away s it does me. Emperor's New Groove: So different from the rest; it shows another direction Disney films can go. I almost chose Lion King, because it seemed to hook non-Disney people everywhere, but I just don't think it's as good as these others.
