Just like having a brand new '06 for the price of a new grille! Check the other front-end photo in the gallery to see the huge difference. I just love my little pony's new ultra retro look! :)

I really want to get that sucker installed... Once I do get it installed *and* it stops raining all the time (enough to be able to finally wash my car), I am going to take some pictures... I can't wait!

The wiring was actually the easiest part once it was all said and done. We had a little 'snag' when peeking inside the existing harness to find a "Yellow/White" that didn't exist. *LOL* Turned out that although the instructions showed some splicing going on, it was unnecessary. Everything works without it. The only 'off' thing is that the foglights work even when the brights are on - which I don't believe they do on the factory-installed version. No biggie... I know better, plus we pretty much never get fog here. I've been using them as driving lights at dawn/dusk when I want to be seen, but it's not really dark enough for headlights. :)

Awesome, Icey! Good luck with the install... Can't wait to see your pics!!

If I do it the way I want to do it, I won't have to splice any wires (just tap into one) and run an extra wire (basically to light up the little light that comes on when your fog lights are on, on the GT switch itself) from the GT switch to the fuse box. All in all, it doesn't look like it'll be too tough, thankfully, but it sure would have been easier with a plug and play wiring harness! LOL!

And no, the fog lamps aren't supposed to stay on when you switch to your brights cause in some states, it's illegal to run both at the same time... Which is why the OEM setup turns off the fog lamps automatically when you switch to your brights... As long as you remember to turn them off when you use the brights though, you'll be okay... I plan to run my fog lamps the same as you... Basically driving lights during the day/dusk and then my regular lamps at night (and add the fogs on during the long dark stretches rather than my brights if I can)...

Sounds like you've got a good plan! I've heard that a lot of GT folks get oncoming drivers "flashing" at them when they run both - thinking it's brights coming at 'em.

How much does it cost to run a V6 Stang vs. a V6 midsize? I looked at the Fit, it was a tad to small. I really enjoy my car (for a sedan, I could see myself enjoying a stang slightly more)I looked at Civics, I love the interior, it's a bit tight. The Caliber is nice but I won't be saving on gas by the looks of things. Smart's to small, The Mercedes B220 (Yes we got them here) are a bit expensive for what they are.

If your that person that runs with fog, driving, off road, markers and high on the highway and don't dim when oncoming cars come **shakes fist**. As well do you turn off your driving lamps if your tailgating (or near tailgating someone)

I also wonder how a Mustang does in winter, my first car was a hand me down almost decade old V8 woody wagon (my dad insisted on buying them, when everyone was buying minivans) I'm not that old! It was fun to drive in snow (hmm fishtail, oversteer, understeer, drifting...)

Well, since the harness I am using isn't meant to hook up to the GT switch (just a generic toggle switch), I have to add the wire that will turn on that little green light... :( This is why I was looking for the harness you have by itself, but Ford doesn't seem to want to sell just that part *shakes fist at Ford*

    >>Rain = washed car. Didn't you get the memo?<<

    *sigh*

    :)

    >>On 06's are the small foglights standard? Or is it still the black void grill?<<

The '06 V6 has the blank grille with just the Pony. The '06 V6 Pony Package has the small fog lamps and a corrall around the Pony. The '06 GT has the larger fog lamps and a pony in the center. The '07 Shelby will have a blank grille and the fogs will be built into the front facia...

    >>How much does it cost to run a V6 Stang vs. a V6 midsize? <<

I would think it would be similar, the mid size would have a little advantage gas mileage-wise since they are manfactured for that type of driving where the Mustangs are a 'muscle type' car... I love my Mustang and the only thing I'll trade it in for is another Mustang... :) I had to drive a little Chevy Cobalt for 2 days last week and when I got back into my Mustang, it was like putting my hand into a glove... I just fit so nicely into that car... Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing for the poor fools who have to ride in my back seat... ;)

As far as winter, Mustangs aren't the best because of the rear-wheel drive... At least if you deal with a lot of snow... But if you just practice to start out in second gear, you will do alright and avoid tire spins a lot easier...

I've driven a 5.7L LT1 powered station wagon in winter (well as my car for 2 winters)

I know space is a concern, which is why I probably will rule it out. But the Stang is a Stang. I just wish the V6 had the V8 rumble.

I'll probably keep my current car till it dies, or a year whichever comes first, or second. But I do more then average miles a year (but who doesn't?)

Do you have the gauges that change colour?

I hear ya... But I did add a JBA Exhaust to my car and while it doesn't sound as throaty as the GT, it still is quite nice, and much louder over stock... And that's with just one... There are a couple dual exhaust combos for the V6 that actually sound pretty good... And while it's not ever going to sound like a GT, it *does* sound pretty good, especially for a V6 and even with the single JBA, I still turn heads when I drive by... ;)

    >>Do you have the gauges that change colour?<<

Yep! I didn't at first, but I added it on a few months later... It's pretty cool and I still play with all the colors depending on what I am in the mood for... The additional bonus to the cluster is that it has other helpful modes (average gas mileage, trip timer, fuel efficiancy graph, etc...) that come in handy! :)

I love my power pedals. Does the V6 have lumbar control? I don't think you can get the electronic climate control in the stang though :(

But on the other hand I could garage this and hope my current car lasts.

Taurus (bought used, so I paid nothing for it) won't sell for much when they're higher mileage anyways.

Most of the cars i'm looking at except for the Impala (LTZ or LT, dunno I want the LTZ but the engine will guzzle more gas, SS is out of the question, won't tow. For me that's a bad thing.

But it may be worth it to keep this and fix it as a beater.

It'll be nice to have 2 cars. I wish you could get the colour package with the red and black leather in the V6 though.

Does it also use 5w20? Have you had any problems? Hows seat firmness on longer drives?

And wonderingalice you seem to love yours.

Yes, you can get the power lumbar control (I have it in mine), no electronic climate control though... The cabin is too small for it really to be useful I would imagine... But, I am hearing the 2007 models will have heated seats... You can get the heaters added aftermarket as well...

    >>It'll be nice to have 2 cars. I wish you could get the colour package with the red and black leather in the V6 though.<<

You can do this! 2 ways... Either order it from Ford this way, *but* you cannot get the red leather *and* the Pony package at the same time (I have no idea why)... Or you can do what I did and get the leather after market... It costs the same and the dealer can add it into the car loan (if applicable)... This way, you also get real leather instead of the faux leather/leather combo that Ford uses... Plus, you can do two-toned (which I wish I did) or different colors all together... The only difference in the V6 leather and the GT leather is the pattern they use. The V^ looks more like a luxury leather (big seating panels) and the GT has the smaller seating panels and is perforated.

    >>Does it also use 5w20? Have you had any problems? Hows seat firmness on longer drives?<<

I am not sure on the oil, I would have to find out, but the seats are pretty comfortable... Almost too comfortable (since I get kinda sleepy on long drives)... I would suggest sitting in a Mustang before you do anything though, cause some people have 'fit' issues... The taller you are, the harder it is to fit in the car... Although, the 2005+ models have gotten better, I am 6' tall and I don't have to have the seat *all* the way back... Of course, that's in part to having a 5-speed and needing to reach 5th gear... ;)
