Mr. Alice and I made the mistake of 'attempting' to relive some favorite childhood moments by riding the TAW at Belmont Park in San Diego not too long ago... BIG mistake. It wrecked us, but good!

We're heading for M-SP in September and I definitely want to hit the Mall - especially the amusement park. Might just be brave enough to give that nifty coaster a whirl... So to speak. ;-)

From what I've heard, BlueDevilSF is accurate in his description. I would say it is pretty similar to Primeval Whirl at the Animal Kingdom if you've ever tried that.

As with many tourist destinations, Mall of America is much more popular with tourists than with locals.

It is certainly worth experiencing if you are visiting; it just isn't a very convenient place for routine shopping.

LOL... Actually, it's probably been 4-5 years since we've visited the MOA. We used to go Christmas shopping there every year but haven't done that for a while.

When we lived in Eden Prairie we had Eden Prairie Center a short drive away which was very nice after they renovated it. Now that we live in Roseville we're five minutes away from the best mall in the Twin Cities -- Rosedale.

We used to go to MOA occasionally for the entertainment places on the 4th floor, but most of those have been closed for quite a while. About the only reason we’d go to MOA now would be if we were in the mood to experience large groups of unruly teens. That just doesn’t have quite the appeal that it used to though.

    ;-)

But in regards to the Timberland Twister... it's a mean m********r spinning coaster. Tall, fast, furious and lots of fun. This is the coaster Disney needed to put in Dinoland. Go ride it and them, make sure you have an appointment with your chiropractor the next day.

    TDLFAN's rate: 5*****

    Mall of Ammesia's rate: 2**

Yes, that is a nice place! Have you been to the new AMC there?

My family came up for Thanksgiving, and we went to the MOA on that Saturday because my sister-in-law is a shopaholic. We warned her it would be packed and crowded and nervewracking.

    And then we got there.

It wasn't bad at all. We were so amazed, I can't even describe it. The place did get busy as the day went on, but it seemed no busier than a typical weekend.

I'm okay with the teen crowds, I think... Can't be any worse than the skulking (is that a word?? *L*) gang members at the mall across from my workplace. Those guys make me regret having to go out to my car. No wonder I do 90+% of my Christmas shopping online!

On Friday and Saturday night any kids 15 years old or younger need to be accompanied by a parent or they are asked to leave a mall. The policy works great on getting rid of the young rowdy ones leaving just those teens that are old enough to likely be carrying a gun.

    :)

MOA really isn't that bad. They had kind of a gang-banger problem there about 5 years ago, but they have really cleaned it up since then. Now it isn't any worse than say... walking down the Strip in Las Vegas!!

    :)
