"In an interview last week with conservative radio host Lars Larson, Palin called the murders "tragic" and "unfathomable."

"It was a bad decision obviously, but my heart goes out to Huckabee," the former Alaska governor said. "I love him, and I feel bad for him to be in this position. But I feel even worse for the victim's families in this situation. I do feel bad for Huckabee, but it was a horrible decision he made."

Huckabee has said he regrets the decision to commute the sentence of the suspected shooter, Maurice Clemmons, but said he thinks he made the right assessment at the time. Palin said she had never pardoned or granted clemency to prisoners when she served in Juneau."

So she infers Huckabee is on the side of the "bad guys". As if.

It also occurs to me that she likely wasn't in office long enough, since she quit in her first term, to be faced with many decisions like this.

I've said it before and I bet I say it a lot in the future. I can't be more disappointed in McCain for allowing her to be foisted on him and ruin his dream of becoming President. He puts his foot down and says no, then she's likely resigned in disgrace by now due to all the other ethical problems she was going to face in Alaska.

Despite what Mr. X says about me, nothing would make me happier than to see Palin just vanish into the ether. She's really just one step above a reality star.

That's a pretty unnecessary insult of reality stars.

There may be some political calculation going on with Palin's comments about Huckabee. I still think these two have the best shot at the GOP nomination for 2012 - the rabid base will not settle for a moderate candidate like McCain the next time around - they want a "true believer" and Palin and Huckabee are the only two that qualify.

Hence her pandering to the birthers. It would be foolish for just about any other politician to get too cozy with these people, but not for Palin - these whack jobs are the only constituents she has, so you dance with the ones that brung ya.

Wow from what I heard that was even shot down by Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Hannity. Not sure about GBCP though.

Exactly. It should be a non-issue at this point. And she should come out and say so, but she won't.

Nothing would make me happier. They don't scare me, Mitt Romney does.

And even IF somehow Palin or Huckabee managed to get into the White House, I think it would be a good thing in the long term as it would absolutely ruin the Republican party among reasonable people, even more than Bush did.

Really? That's cool. I was raised by Goldwater Republicans and their values kinda stuck until I attended SFSU and experienced other cultures outside Wonder Bread Land.

You can still find some Ron Paul election posters around Presidio Heights and Snob Hill. But truthfully, I never saw any McCain-Palin posters. I think even SF Republicans were embarrassed by the Tundra Tart.

Unlike other parts of the country, Republicans are in deep stealth mode in most parts of the bay area. They are here in probably pretty big numbers -- after all, we have two 24/7 right wing talk radio stations -- but they are not going to be doing much displaying of bumper stickers and the like.

It's like the old saying. There's a different between courage and stupidity. She's definitely the latter in each case.
