I think it's novel, and cute, but he didn't really offer any information we did not already have. We also knew all of the trivia he offered. It is a great idea, because he activates when you walk through the gates and he can offer info about wait times, characters, etc. That said, the wait time board worked just as well for us. My favorite Park with Pal Mickey was Animal Kingdom because he offered lots of neat info about the Park itself - about the animals in the entrance plaza, benches, the Tree of Life, etc. Epcot was also fun with him. In general I did not feel him vibrate when he wanted to say something so often we just sort of didn't use him. You have to activate him by squeezing him when he vibrates to tell you new information. Mostly he was a novelty for the adults in the group. The kids sort of didn't pay much attention to him, and we had kids in every age range from 2-13 (2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 13 - not all mine!)

So long story short, I don't think he's worth the price to purchase a new one at the Parks, but I thought he was a fun $35.00 (with free shipping) addition to our trip. Check out EBay! The older versions sync up with the information in the Parks. The only thing that might be different would be his clothes. I believe the latest version is wearing the Sorcerer's Apprentice outfit. This is the one I got on EBay for $35.00. He came with a belt clip and a lanyard. You have to wear him or carry him facing forward because his receiver is in his nose. The good thing is that if you forget to turn him on before entering you can take him to the camera shop in any Park and they can activate him there for you. Fun and novel, but not worth $65.00...

I bought mine for $19.99 ... and have yet to ever actually use him as other than a dust collector.

He still gets played with on a regular basis at home so I don't think it was bad value for money. If you think your kids might play with him after you leave the parks than I'd say go for it.

I would go the ebay route and use the saved money for costumes. Also, you don't get the lanyard with the newer ones, but we talked to a very nice CM who helped us out on that one. ;)

We got Mickey and Donald to sign ours with a marker so that was cool especially as Donald seemed quite upset that there was no Pal Donald!!!

What talking Donald? I'd love to find that. The only problem with a Pal Donald though, is you'd never understand what he was saying, LOL!
