Executive 1-I have a great way of saving costs and still theming a huge section of DCA.
    Executive 2- What idea?
Executive 1- We will build an area themed to what Disney parks were suppose to never become. We will theme it to a typical amusemnt park.
Executive 2- Sounds cheap, so I like it.

Go inside the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
Take a Haunted Elevator Ride in an old Hollywood hotel.
Be in the middle of Pirates raiding a town.
Go into a house with 999 haunts and room for one more.
Ride an out of control mind train in an environment taht actually looks like the wild west.
Ride a bobsled down the Matterhorn mountain while seeing an abondamniable(sp) snowman on the way down.
Take a wild ride through the English counrtyside that ends in Hell.
    Visit Wonderland on a catepillar.
Rocket into space from Space Mountain.
Witness the events of Brer Rabbit stories and get thown down into the Briar Patch yourself.
    Fly over London and Neverland.

Yeah Paradise Pier is pretty lame when you compare it to those examples.

If you are going to build an area based of a regular amusement park at least make it an amusement park like Cedar Point.

That place looks very elegant and a little regal. PP just looks, uh, tacky ;D.

But, with that said, it's been mentioned a thousand times now, yeah, it fit the theme okay actually, but it isn't bringing out the best in Disney when every single attraction there can be found in Magic Mountain ;D. But, they KNOW they screwed up and screwed up BIG time or we wouldn't be hearing all these 'placemaking' ideas, now would we ;). You don't make plans to do something over that you did right the first time, so just relax and SUPPOSEDLY there will be some changes, even if cosmetic.

Most of the attractions are here to stay unfortunately, but hopefully it will at least look prettier....and there will be Toy Story Mania to look forward too :).

Wow, we are still having the same arguments, man I love it here :). Roadtrip, you say us 'bashers' keep bringing up the same arguments why this park has problems (considering it's a 'PP is bad' topic, I have to agree ;D), but its no different than making the same excuses to defend the park over and over.

C'mon man, that list is not in the same league, not even close and you KNOW it! If DCA had something LIKE Mr. Toad's or Casey Jr today in the beginning, maybe people would buy more tickets, but the difference those attractions are HIGHLY themed and fit wonderfully with the atmosphere of what DL is trying to create and they are a HUGE difference between the 'carny' stuff that has been portrayed in so many other parks and now sadly DCA.

It's not that it's a spinner, or a roller coaster or even a merry go round, it's how well they help tell a story and capture a different mood, place and time. Again, C'mon! Are people so desperate to defend this area, they have to try and knock every Disney attraction as well?

I GET that PP is also trying to capture a mood, but it's story and time fails miserably. The fact that no one can tell you the thing is in the past or present tells you they just didn't bother to give it a real sense of dimension and why should they? It's a basic roller coaster, carny games, ferris wheel and a few spinners. Once again, you can find ALL that in KBF, that actually does a better job of theming this stuff IMO. Tell me the day you find Mr. Toad's in KBF and I will buy my AP tomorrow.

You may say now that the Fantasyland Darkrides are classics and can’t be compared to anything else. Sure, 50 years after opening the ARE classics.

But when they opened they were cheap clones of existing off-the-shelf rides... the same thing you are criticizing DCA for. I was riding the "Spinning Washtubs" at my local kiddie park about the same time that Disneyland opened with the Teacups. A vomit bucket is a vomit bucket... outside of the shape of the car the ride is the same.

I'm one of the remaining few who survived the 'DCA Wars' circa 2001-2002 (Before your time). Yeah, those were the days. It was sort of like the Clone Wars in Star Wars...only no clones. It was tense, tough and brutal back then. Everyday, last man standing here had to make the other side give up their AP's...or one of their closet pets if they didn't have an AP.

It was brutal! But, maybe people like me can pass on the torch to the younger generation like yourself and take up the fight while I retire and finish my Star Trek model collection in my mother's basement. We'll see.

(Yeah, its VERY late on my side of the world kids. Good night ;D)

I think you could pose that question about any of Disney's faux experiences. Would you rather do Mission: Space or take a real trip in an actual space shuttle? How about a trip around the Rivers of America on the Mark Twain or a real trip down the Mississippi on a steam powered paddle boat?

Disney's parks aren't supposed to be substitutes for the things they represent. These are entertainment places that use storytelling elements and theming to enhance the overall experience.

Going into space for real is something almost impossible for people to do. Knott's Berry Farm is a 15 minute drive from DLR and is 1000 times better than Paradise Pier.

Soon it will be beautiful during the day as well.
