This cant be true right?

If they really wanted to save money they could close the DCA on one day and Disneyland on another. That way there was at lease one thing for people to do.

They're still making plenty of money, so I don't think they would really consider doing this unless things get a lot worse. As it stands, they have released the park schedule through the beginning of spring break, and both parks are open every day. They do say that things are always subject to change, but I really doubt they mean that drastically.

If they do close the parks for a day per week, I would expect them to wait until after the spring break crowds die down, and then keep it open every day during peak times like spring break, summer, and Christmas. If they do close them, I would hope that they would think about it enough to close the two parks on different dates. If they're both closed, they're going to have a heck of a time filling all those hotel rooms!

That being said, there isn't any talk of doing that any time soon.

Now, cutting back on operating hours, reducing entertainment (such as Fantasmic! only offered 3 days a week at WDW) are already in the works.

So shorter days, but not less days.

And what would that do to the "Free" day at Disneyland BD promotion. Sorry, your BD is on Tuesday, you can't go? No way would Disney do that.

But, I think it would be a good idea for next year, letting people know in advance when they buy their AP's, to close DCA for 1 day a week in the off times. It's basically empty when DL is not very crowded.

We have gone for spring break the last week of march the last two years and the park was always open from 8am to 12am all week. This year for the same week it is open 9am to 11pm except on the weekends which is always 8am to 12am.

Maybe the extended hours for the whole week will start in April this year....maybe that is what was meant by reducing hours. I havnt checked the calandar lately to see if they offer the extended hours after march 27 or not.

I was told by Disney Travel Co. that last week of march was considered peak season as far as the hotels were concerned, but the hours are not what is usually peak hours?

It will be interesting to see what Disney does with hours, hotel cost, closing restaurants etc.Do we think that APs will once again be raised? And did anyone notice that the Disney Visa is no longer advertising free stroller rental?

I see on the calendar that the last two days in march the park closes at 10pm. last year it showed peak hours, open until midnight everynight starting on March 15. hmmmm, very interesting...conventions, cheer camps and spring break crowds with less hours....

If Easter always fell on the same Sunday you could easily compare year to year. But since its a holiday that moves each year, every year is different.

Easter is later in April this year, unlike last year when it was in March, so the longer hours dont start ramping up until the third week of March. The peak weeks of Spring Break are in April this year.

As far as closing Mondays and Tuesdays, that was something that happened right up until Eisner took over in late '84. It was he who initiated the 365 day operation. Even when they were closed for those two days, it was only during the off season. Even in the unlikely event that they returned to the policy, it wouldn't interfere with any vacation plans you might have for, say, Summer.
Also, they would have to give a MAJOR advance heads up to not only AP holders, but to travel agents for helping people plan their trips.
But as others have said, not going to happen.
