"Idol" hasn't even started yet, and she's already embarrassing herself in public - again. This show doesn't require much from her, but she does have to be able to speak coherently for thirty seconds at a time - which it doesn't seem like she's capable of doing.

Her publicist says "she was just tired", but that's what publicists do.

    >> Singer-turned-"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul called off all her interviews Friday after clips of an earlier TV appearance appeared to show her drunk.

The video -- in which Abdul slurs and bizarrely gesticulates -- emerged on YouTube on Thursday, prompting speculation alcohol or medication were to blame. She subsequently abandoned media engagements scheduled for Friday.

However, Abdul's spokesman Jeff Ballard insists tiredness and a minor throat infection, not inebriation, were the causes of the cancellations and earlier odd behavior.

He says, "She was exhausted. She never drinks. I have known Paula Abdul since she was 13, and I have never seen her drink ever in my life. And no, she is not on any kind of medication. She was a little tired."

In 2005 Abdul revealed she suffers from a neurological disorder that causes chronic pain and requires a weekly injection of an anti-inflammatory drug. <<

This could be an interesting season. I'm wondering if paula will make it all the way through.

I assume they make plenty as it is. More blue collar pay should be increased (and jobs like mine where it's emotionally and mentally trying and draining).

You're also looking at being on call all the time, programmers spend more time then you can imagine starring at screen debugging, making 1 change, and starting the process with thousands upon thousands of lines of code... It's not as glamourous as you think. Ask any of the many IT workers here.

And Medical -> You don't want to know what my student loan is, tuition is slightly steep. Like IT you always upgrade. Cutbacks, increased wait times, and it's not just doctors who need to buy malpractice insurance. When you're doing your clinicals your pay is probably what the lady manning the cash at the cafeteria is. I know that the medical transcriptionists make more then I did during the internship. It's not a cake-walk, you're looking at long hours. Your dealing in an environment where depending on unit the pain of the clients is tear jerking, in burns you have to hurt the client to help them, in cardiac you're dealing with people who have had numerous by pass surgeries...

Well, TDG, answer me this: who else is going to buy all those mansions and Hummers and bling-bling if the athletes and stars aren't being paid $270+ million for movies and contracts? How else are they going to show it off on Cribs and on E! Come on now, Shaq and J-Lo can't afford to live on $70,000 a year... :p

Abdul appeared on "The Tonight Show" Monday night in an effort to clear up reports she was intoxicated.

When host Jay Leno asked her about her appearances, which have been widely circulated on the Internet, she explained, "I did a big week of press all last week in New York, and, on the third day, I did one of those press junkets, where you're in that one little room and you're looking at one camera and there are 30 cities talking into your ear.

"I guess Alabama was in my ear and so was Seattle at the same time. So I'm answering questions to the wrong answers of the cities. <<

Well, she had to say something, and that's what she said. I'm not buying it.

I agree Mele, it's like we are just supposed to believe whatever they say. If I showed up to work and was acting like she was I would have been written up and sent home.

Wait until you see the lineup of AI hopefuls from Seattle on the show this week. I personally don't blame Paula for getting plasterred after that painful ordeal.

Whoa, TDL, you're being way too mellow here. The Seattle show looks like the freaking circus came to audition! (Or maybe circus freaks might be a better way to put it.) Holy Hannah.

Did AI come to town in September when Ringling Bros. was here????

I didn't think he was that bad, but Randy dug into him so hard that even the other judges seemed embarrassed by it.

And I'm willing to bet that the juggler guy rehearsed that exiting scene for days before the audition. That scene is probably going to wind up on his dramatic audition tape along with a notarized copy of the script.

If they must show this stuff, I'd prefer it get squashed down into a one hour compilation. That'd be more than enough.

Many of the "performers" they show know full well they are just acting like a fool just to make the 'bad performer' segment of the show. It's just dumb and pointless.

I don't think much about her one way or the other, generally (I do watch Idol regularly), so for me to notice her behavior, means, to me, that it was unusual.
