Check out TDLFAN's photos of the "new" Cinderella Castle at Tokyo Disneyland.

Now, THIS is how it should be done! I liked the 50th overlay on Cindy's Castle at MK, but after seeing this, I have to say it can't compare anymore. I wonder if WDW will follow suit, or just go back to business as usual?

I would not mind at all if MK's got this treatment too. On the other hand I love that both Cinderella Castles will look different now.

    What do you guys think?

In fact, I am not sure i like how dark they have painted the "stone" walls... it makes an already cold-looking structure even more cold.

I'm not a fan of that metallic paint on the stonework. A little too fantasy for me but then I don't like DL's castle at the moment. Too extreme.

It's the same reason DLP's is brighter, and their It's a Small World got the pastel treatment. I think this new paint job on Cinderella Castle helps to make it a bit warmer and stand out during bleak days.

Too bad the Japanese didn't insist on an entirely new and different castle when TDL was deisgned. So much- too much- of that park looks like the FL and CA parks.
Now, they did make up for that with TDS!!!!

It looks too out of place and almost ruins the otherwise nice job they did on the towers.

There are nice details that are made more notiecable with the gold paint, and I kind of like the additional splash of color to the towers, but there is little else that I would like seen done over here on WDW's castle.

Speaking of WDW's castle, I want the more traditional look back after the 50th. The only expection would be to create more permanent looking gold swirls/rods for the turrets as they did with the 50th overlay using painted flats.

    Oh, yeah, totally...it's so a rip-off!

Actually, I'd say WDW and DL got the more "Excalibur" look...except that they aren't anywhere near as tacky.

Yeah, I remember waiting for the "show" for a while and REALLY being underwhelmed after it was over. "THAT was it??" was my reaction.

Amazing how many people find the lower part of the castle...so-so. Take a good look at TDL's castle from before and years ago and compare to the MK's... The TDL castle has always been of darker tones in the lower section. Nothing new there.

The dark lower part makes it look more permanent, which is good, since I've always thought they look like you could just pick them up and move them around. Since they are not connected to any buildings or ground around them, they just look too fake, especially considering their size. I'm not too sure about the gold accents on the details, but only because they are gold. They look good, but I don't know how tacky, or not, they look in real life.
