The main thing that caught my attention was the name of the new parade showing up sometime in 2008 (Based on what I know, May, though I have heard Easter Break also) is going to be called "Pixar Play! Parade", no pals in the name. Also, the press release still calls both the WDW and DCA new attractions "Toy Story Mania!". A couple of other issues in the Press Release, it is official, the Disney Gallery is being converted to the "Disneyland Dream Suite" which will be offered to guests most of 2008 (266 days) starting January 31st, 2008. Expect a few days prior for Major Media to get a chance to use it first. Also note that there are about 70 days that it won't be given out, more than likely for other marketing purposes. Also, the Disneyland Hotel will be getting a "Pirates of the Caribbean" suite. (Could this be a remodel of the Mickey's suite?) The Press Release also talks about High School Musical 3 coming out in the Fall of 2008 (subject to change). And one more comment, reading all this info (aka Press stuff), DCA was hardly mentioned, but all the WDW parks were mentioned individually... A very interesting comment on the attitude of Disney....

As for the name of that new attraction in the Pier area, I have a friend in Imagineering who is working on it (she's in Florida right now testing it), and every time she refers to it, she either calls it "Mania" (most of the time) or "Midway". Except when she is telling people who don't know about it, she never even mentions Toy Story. I don't know if that's just because it makes the name too long or because it's not that important (I picture a sign similar to the new Subs one, where Toy Story is small at the top and Midway Mania is the focus of it). Either way, it seems to me that it will be called Midway Mania. Next time I talk to her about it, I be sure to ask what it's called.

"Pixar Play! It might start around Easter Break, or late May, I am getting conflicting reports....

It is much easier to stick with one name in promoting the attraction since it is being linked with the Dreams campaign. When all is said and done and people involved in creating the attraction as well as TDA feel like they want to rename it for individuality then it is possible that it could be renamed.

The very popular Disney Pixar characters need to be presented somehow in Disney theme park parades. i think its very appropriate that those characters do not get mixed in with the more classical characters that Disneyland normally has in its parades. DCA needs to have a parade and it makes sense to have it be different from what Disneyland offers. Besides the electrical parade already has some of the older characters in it

BPB, which was all Pixar is leaving that is replaced by another Pixar clone....in a park that seems to have completely forgotten its identity. I DON'T get it?? Why is it so damn hard to make something based on the theme of the park??? Honestly, just change the name of the park, alter the existing lands to look more 'cartoony' and fantasy based when the fix begins and call it a day already. I just don't see the need to completely build such character heavy placements in a park that never called for it. Either the idiots who built this park were waaaay off on their assessment that the California theme could holds people interest and it has basically failed in that respect (yes kids, the ugly 'F' word everyone hates around here ) OR there is no one creative enough to come up with compelling California based attractions and shows. Seriously, which one is it because I still don't understand how after the first year, there has not been a SINGLE attraction themed to the intention of the park and yet there have been 10+ Pixar products. Again, which one is it?

How short sited is that???? And like I said, who are they kidding, why don't they just suck it up and when the fix begins just create more fantasy elements with the park so it would at least resemble this new fantasy based element they obviously been pushing in the park since its 3rd month of operation. Just keep GRR as is and keep that area as natural as it is now and have the new entrance align with a specific time period of California, but then everything else just create a more whimsical approach to this new character/pixar approach they are shoving down that parks throat. Or otherwise, jut call it something else that they all probably want to do anyway.

Why not mix them, the muppets, and classic characters? I think that'd be pretty cool to show how much different stuff they have. "and it has basically failed in that respect (yes kids, the ugly 'F' word everyone hates around here ) " You're using the word correctly. "but it goes to my whole point that DCA was a huuuuge mistake and extremely, extremely short sited" No. It was needed, and was part of a long term vision for the area. "You build a park that is completely DEVOID of the character and fantasy experience" It wasn't. It had muppets, bugs, and the animation thing. The thing is that you don't actually need a lot of fantasy elements. The most popular things in the place are not fantasy based. They are just doing this because someone got the idea that you have to have characters tied into everything. THAT is what is short sighted and a mistake.
