Pixar wants to make Will Eisner's Spirit

    Before anyone asks, Will Eisner is not related to Michael, as far as I know. He was a comic book writer that came to prominance in the 1930s and 1940s. He passed away about a year ago.

    In an odd irony, though, his publishing partner was named Jerry Iger and together they ran a publishing company called Eisner & Iger Publishing.

    actually I dont know anything about Spirit, but it was an old comic book, right? and Im assuming its not owned by either of the big guns, Marvel or DC(cuz if it is its NOT gonna happen)...

    It looks like DC Comics actually does own the rights to it currently. That makes it somewhat unlikely that a film version would not be Warner Bros, but I'm not sure a deal would be impossible if Pixar really wanted to take it on.

    Like JeffG says, I woouldn't be surprised either if Warner Bros and Disney/Pixar got into bed for this if Brad Bird really fleshed out a great screenplay. I can't imagine WB EVER seriously planned on doing a film adaptation in our lifetime, but I'm sure if they found the right guy, they'd be willing to make some money. Brad Bird, of anyone in Hollywood right now, would be the right guy.
