I just think it's interesting that they're still using the old style maps for something. I personally think they're much more visually appealing and easier to understand than the MM+ ones they rolled out a couple years ago, but it doesn't seem like they have any plans to change back

Although I have five weeks per year for holidays, it wouldn't work out financially to do Orlando, DCL and California in the same year. And we have to visit DLP next year.

There's also been a rumor running for years that it will be moved to the entrance to Fantasmic!, though I think that one is more a fanboy wishlist than anything based in reality. Both of these locations would potentially have sightline issues that would mess with the forced perspective on TOT

Realistically, I think it would be far too expensive to move it anywhere. It was constructed like a building, rather than being plopped in place like a sculpture installation, so it would have to be disassembled, moved and reassembled. The iridescent paint job on it has also faded a lot (and unevenly) through the years, so it could use a really nice refurbishment. Given how much effort that would require (and how it's been taken out of promo material and merchandise with other park icons in the last year or two) it seems much more likely that they would just demolish it

For me personally, I've never had an issue with the hat itself but it's not in the right place at all. If they could find an appropriate place for it, then I don't mind them keeping it, but I'd also be happy to see it completely scrapped

And they can blow up its ugly cousin at the while they're at it.

Much like the 2000 wand at Epcot, I thought it was a neat icon for a temporary promotion, but wasn't impressed when it outlived its purpose. As I've recently proven, I have no problem with temporary overlays and icons, provided they're truly temporary; I thought that the MK 25th castle cake was awesome when I saw it in person and having it around for such a limited time made it even more special. But when stuff like that outlives its welcome, it rapidly switches from a neat temporary addition to an unwelcome remnant in a terrible location

LMAO! Wow, that is just horrible. What's inside there? Or do you just walk though it?

Here's a closer view of a similarly placed icon in The Mighty Ducks wing (with Herbie, Fantasia 2000, and Mighty Ducks, they really seemed to have picked a great selection of movies that got forgotten after the hotel opened)

OK, I guess as visual markers those giant icons make sense. Still, that sad hat makes me want to weep.
