I thought it was a pain going to Epcot as you either have to walk to the TTC or ride the monorail there and then change to a different monorail to get to epcot. Anywhere else you are on a bus. So, if this is your only opportunity to stay at the Poly I'd go for it as everyone should stay there once but if there may be a time down the road when you might be in a position to not ask this question, I would stay somewhere else.

IMO, the Poly pool should be the best and biggest on property due to the south seas theme alone. But thumbs up for the pool bar, always a good time there ;-)

The new gift emporium "BouTiki" does the job nicely on the first floor. Enjoy the hotel, and its history. It is a great place to be.

The monorail service and proximity to the TTC is very convenient. Even if we don't stay at the Poly, we always have at least one meal at both O'Hana (Dinner)and the Kona Cafe (Lunch or Dinner). In a way - it's like getting 2 vacations in one - you are at WDW (so there's one vacation) - but you are also staying at a Polynesian Resort (like in the South Pacific) - yes - it is Pricey - but it is a great experience.

I think I'd have traded that stupid car for my "big chance" to stay at the Poly, no question (I could get my own car, damn it! ). So...long story short...I've never stayed there but it does remain my "dream hotel" at DisneyWorld for sure!!!! *sigh* <---as a local I DID spend a lot of time hanging around the lobby and having a couple of tropical cocktails at the bar before catching my monorail...Poly has a really cool smell to it too, doesn't it? Like something semi-tropical, but also Disney at the same time...LOVE THAT PLACE!

Especially when it's hot outside, it has the unique aspect of the monorail platform being inside where it's air conditioned. How "cool" is that? . Plus, because it's high rather than wide, rooms in the tower at least are a quick walk from monorail. Basically, everything's right there and easy to get to at the resort, and MK and Epcot are just a monorail trip away.
