    <<DISNEY POLICY

According to the Walt Disney World Web site, Disney's group package policy includes a provision that if "one or more person(s)" in a party takes part in a violent act, everyone will be forced to leave.

"This was unfortunate, but with thousands of guests staying at the resort, we have to maintain a safe environment for everyone," Jacob DiPietre, a spokes-man for Walt Disney World, said Monday. "All participants were made aware of our strict zero-tolerance policy regarding any physical disturbances. Any teams involved in fighting are subject to disqualification and eviction. We were in direct consultation with both Pop Warner officials and law enforcement throughout the course of the event."

Florida Pop Warner officials did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment yesterday.>>

So the footballers HAD been told ahead of time that the behavior of even one participant would have repurcussions for the entire group.

And this has gone unmentioned here:

    <<ROOMS FOUND BY 4:45

...Kong was able to find the families rooms at a Holiday Inn by 4:15 a.m. Saturday after organizing a convoy of taxis to transport baggage and people.>>

It's not like the miscreants and their posses were made homeless. Disney made sure they found alternate arrangements. [Why the hell would these other hotels accept them?!] Two hours after they were booted, they were re-housed.

I love how someone who says others are judgmental is so quick to label folks, the vast majority who are families that had nothing to do with one fight amongst a few kids.

    Way to go I-57!

LMAO! Literally, this made me laugh out loud.

It reminds me of the guy I caught trying to steal $1,000 with a fake credit card the other day. He protested with, "You're not treating me with respect!" LMAO!

Waaaaaaaaahhhhh! OMG. So your 1-year-old cried.

HelllLLLL-LLLOOOO! You want sympathy for THAT?! That's what 1-year-olds DO!

But, okay, okay, maybe I'm being insensitive.

Maybe your 1- and 2- and 3-year old babies wouldn't have been crying if your 11-year old wouldn't have been acting like a thug.

    Sorry. My bad.

    Uhhhhh...

Your post might make some sense if you showed where I've said that other posters are judgemental or where I've labeled people.

Do you think there was a full-scale riot going on?

I kinda think if there had been a real serious incident (and no, one kid breaking another's nose happens frequently) that someone may have been arrested.

    But that's just me.

Oh c'mon. You love labeling me -- and anyone who isn't all full of pixie dust -- as bullies.

But if you think Disney acted appropriately by rousing families and young kids from their beds at 3 a.m. and ordering them out, that tells me a lot about your compassionate nature.

And while I'd love to play some more, I need to leave the LP for the night so, by all means, have the last word`... for now ...

Please let the record show that I haven't "labeled" ANYone or named Spirit in this thread.

This thread is not about you, Spirit. Please let the rest of us comment on the substance of the thread without you making it about you.

I think that Disney always has to balance the rights of one group of guests versus the rights of the other guests and of the property. In this case, Disney apparently had cause to believe that one group was violating the security and enjoyment of other guests. And it took what it thought to be appropriate action.

I'm sure it was a difficult decision on the part of the Disney manager.

Disney must have been weighing that whole civility thing that you argue for, Spirit, against liability and marketability. And they chose civility.

There's that pesky form that the teams signed: "Misbehavior on the part of ONE member can get the whole team kicked off-property."

MY compassionate nature says Disney told them well in advance: "If you refuse to do what it takes to keep your adolescents in line at this public resort, you will suffer the consequences."

The teams signed contacts saying that they were JOINTLY responsible for the behavior of EACH team member. I have zero sympathy for their ex-post-facto complaints that group members (including 2-year-olds) were rousted because of the unsupervised and unacceptable behavior of the footballers.

(Spirit, do you REALLY think that breaking someone else's nose is NOT a big deal?!)

It could be that the decision was reached after already having had to deal with numerous complaints from other guests long before the fight happened; the fight may have been the last straw. We just don't know.

Also, since this is private property, they wouldn't necessarily be arrested but given a trespassing notice that would ban them from the location for either a defined period of time, or indeffinately.

There are extra security measures in place and additional people and procedures that are implemented when groups such as that are on property. Much of it (intentionally) unnoticed.

So who cares about these kids or their families. They couldn't figure out how to behave? So they are gone. This is how society operates.

I suppose in today's times, we need to see the security people to deter some people. One year my daughter's bag was stolen at the park. Well, she was 7 so it was only full of mustard and ketchup.

Come now Inspector. Didn't you get the memo? In 'WDW General' ALL threads are about the Spirit.

Have you looked around and seen just how our society has operated of late? All under the 'family values' party ruling the roost?

I hate to defend these people because I believe Disney had every right to ask them to leave.

But I believe there's a right way and a wrong way to do everything. Disney did the tacky/WalMart/out-of-control/kneejerk response. It could have used some class, some tact and some caring and compassion and asked the people not involved to vacate when they awoke.

I'm also (sadly) not surprised at some of these reactions because we have become such a hatefilled, vengeful society ...

To see folks like you Jon, just call a whole group of people animals is, frankly, vile. If Al Lutz labels theme park management apologists as Defenders of Medicority that's worth thousands of posts ripping him. When I call people who are 500 pounds, fat and lazy, you jump on me and say it's all out of their control.

But here, you clearly have a situation where the majority of these folks were sleeping, not bothering anyone when some members of their group acted out and suddenly they're all animals who got what was coming to them.

Really, I wonder where basic human decency has gone. ... It's so sad that I'm here defending people who I basically agree were in the wrong, certainly by the contract they signed. But to say it's OK for familes with infants to be tossed out into the night by Disney while being threatened with forceable removal? No, that's not OK.

And, BTW, Disney has already started taking some actions behind the scenes, which tells me they believe it could have been handled better.

Yes, it's terrible, and I am glad someone is taking a stand. If more places did this, we'd all be better off.

The thing is this, if you are running around causing fights at the place, you ARE acting like an animal. If you let your kids do this, and do not supervise them, you are ALLOWING this behavior.

I am a pretty tolerant person. But when somebody does stuff like this, I have no tolerance at all.

This is different than labeling a group of people with just a different opinion. These are people actively behaving in a violent manner. These are not people with a medical problem, these are people going out and breaking noses.

They get zero sympathy from me.

Undoubtedly the same families where there parents were sitting at the pool bar getting smashed while the neglected infant sat nearby in a stroller. Don't tell me it doesn't happen, because it does. If seen it EVERY time I've been at a pool bar at the All Stars.
