They've backed off his paralytic (which keeps him in the induced coma) to test him, and he was able to squeeze his hands, open his eyes, and respond to his name. They still have to keep him in the coma and on a ventilator, but at least this is some good news. My mom is really stressed out, though, because she's trying to bear the weight for everyone. She's trying to be the mother figure for all the brothers and sisters, manage the fights that are going on (and have been for years) between some of the siblings, & care for Gene. If that wasn't enough, it seems like her little brother is losing it mentally (not because of what happened to Gene). He says that Tom Welling (Clark Kent on Smallville) is their half-brother and swears up and down that my grandfather buried $80,000 on their property, which is so not true. My mom doesn't know where he gets these thoughts, but she's really worried because he needs to see a doctor for it, and it's just agitating everyone. I just hope my mom can get some peace soon. I hate to see her so upset.
