Right now conservatives are whining that comedians and the media are nicer to Obama than they were Bush. Yes, everyone is just biased towards those poor, picked on conservatives. It can't possibly be that the two men are very different. Bush routinely mangled the English language, inventing words that didn't exist. He completely screwed up familiar sayings, and would struggle to find the right way to say things. Entire calendars and books were created with this stuff. And it wasn't just a simple slip of the tongue on a number here and there. It was often painful to watch the man try and spit out a sentence. Obama has misspoken a number...what...twice? This and on the campaign trail when he said he'd been to 57 states so far? Otherwise he's been an impressive speaker and has shown he can speak on the fly in dozens of press conferences and public Q&As. He's certainly not the most stirring orator-President we've had, but he outstrips Bush by miles. But by all means, keep reassuring yourselves that Bush was just like Obama. Good luck with that.

I think they'll find very few actual topics on Bush's inability to speak clearly. What references there are to it, I suspect are there for 1) Jokes or humor (he made it so easy, after all), and 2) To make the larger point about his intelligence. Bush wasn't a bright guy. It's just that simple. His dimwittedness affected us as a country in very harmful ways, and ultimately led to a situation where DAR's taxes will most likely go up and where our country is less safe.

Hell I misspeak all the time, and I'm a genius.
