For my 3and 5 yo girls, is the Princess Fantasy Faire worth it? When is the best time to go? Is the makeover worth it? Should I bring my own dresses??
    Thanks!

The lines have been reported to be around 2 hours or more. And the makeovers - others have said it is quite pricey and the one at libbylu's(DTD) is just as good. Yes bring your own dresses, children under 9 can wear costumes in the park and my DD9 has done it many times with wonderful reactions (one time she was tink - peterpan came running up to her and told her he had been looking everywhere for her, right behind peter was wendy and hook all playing right into it). I would look into some of the faires activities - story time is nice and it's with one of the princesses and I heard the coronation ceremony is also fun.

I really do not like the way the princesses are penned up these days, but if you want to see the princesses there is no alternative, other than Ariel's Grotto.

Best time to go? During the Parade of Dreams the crowds seem the lightest.

Bring your own costumes? Definitely! I have fabulous pictures of DD5 with her wearing costumes that match the princesses. Timing is everything, though. "Pocahontas" can stand on line for 45-60 minutes only to meet Belle, Aurora, and Cinderella.

The makeover? Don't know we haven't splurged on that. It seems costly and I've been worried about the face paint ending up on the costume.

From what I've noticed, the girls seem to chat with each other in line and don't notice its length. If it seems too long for one of them, and you are going with DH or another adult, have one adult stand in line while taking your princesses to a table to color or get a bite to eat. I wouldn't wander too far, but leaving the line for bathroom trips and snacks seems to be acceptable by the others waiting.

The next day, when we were leaving the park, 3 princesses were out front(Cinderella, Arora, and Jasmine again). So we got to see all of them without having to wait in line for the 90 minute wait, and only having to pay $45 for lunch.......

We did the makeover at Libbylu and my daughter LOVED it. I don't let her wear makeup other than for ballet recitals, so she was in heaven. And it was super quick (I think 20 minutes from start to finish). Plus got a free webkinz for my son. hehe

The girls (4 and 2) were happy to meet the princesses, but not as happy as their parents were to take pictures. We all thought it was totaly worth it, but we only had to wait 20 minutes for it. Besides the meet and greet there was story time and dancing with the princesses. The dancing was the little girl's favorite part, they enjoy dancing at home too. The cast members also hand out paper crowns and stickers liberally (think burger king crowns with stickers). The girls loved their crowns too. I think it's fun, but it is a time eater. I don't have any tried and true for when to go, but I would imagine it's like everything else in the park: packed in the middle of the day, fastest as soon as it opens and moderatly busy just before it closes.

The first opening hours are golden. Use those for what ever your priority is, and if it's PFF, by all means head there as soon as it's open. (It *may* have different hours than the park in general: open later, closing earlier) I can't remember exactly. Let's face it, with a 3 and 5 yr old thrill rides aren't exactly a priority on this trip.

As for makeovers, they are extremely overpriced, but that's just my humble opinion.

BTW, so jealous you only waited 20 minutes.

Very jealous to cptmemo who saw them in front of the castle. Does anyone know if they are back to floating around as well as in the PFF or if that is only a busy time of year event?

Right now the Disneyland site has the faire open the following hours: from 11:00-6:00 Monday-Thursday, and 10:00-6:00 on Friday-Sunday. I know the princesses rotate in and out, so you'll need to get help from a cast member if you simply must meet Snow White, or who ever.
