My fiance, the kids and I flew down on Saturday, 9/12. We got to the Grand Californian about 4:30pm. We had DL tickets for 5 days so Saturday and Sunday we just played at the pool and wandered around Downtown Disney. On Sunday we went to Storytellers for the Chip and Dale breakfast. Then, since the GCH water slide was closed for cleaning on Sunday, we went over to the Disneyland hotel pool for a while. My in laws got to the hotel Sunday evening and we all went to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner (it was the first time that I have eaten there and it was much better than I though it would be) and then we surprised the kids by taking them to Build-a-Bear and let them each get a new animal. The newest members of our family are named Golden and Wooferkins. On Monday we grabbed a quick breakfast at La Brea Bakery and then headed into Disneyland. I love the feeling of walking in through the gate for the first time each trip! We spent the morning in Fantasyland and, after years of trying, finally got my fiance on the teacups. I don't think it will be happening again We skipped the Metterhorn Monday because the line was insane all day. We then headed to Toontown and rode Roger Rabbit and had lunch and got pictures with Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, and Minnie. We rode Big Thunder about five times (it is a favorite for all of us) and rode Pirates and Splash and Indy. Except for the Matterhorn, all of the lines were really short. On Tuesday we went over to DCA and hit Toy Story Mania. It was my first time on that ride because last year the lines were way too long. I LOVE that ride! My son was finally tall enough to go on Screamin so we did that next. That is the new favorite ride for my little dare devils! My fiance and I love big roller coasters and adrenaline rides so I am so excited that the kids are following in our footsteps. My mother and brother-in-law did not like it and refused to go on it again (my father-n-law can't go on it because he has had multiple back surgeries and can't do any of the roller coasters). We rode Grizzly River Rapids four times in a row and then went back to the hotel to change before our princess dinner at Ariel's Grotto. We had to wait about an hour for our food after placing our order because the kitchen lost our order. It was okay though because they gave us a good discount and gave each of the kids a cool goodie bag to make up for the mistake. My step daughter loved the princesses but I was a little disappointed in the Ariel that was there that day. Ariel is Kira's favorite princess and Ariel was grumpy and stand offish. The other princess were great though. Since the park closed at 6pm we went back to the pool and then worked on the piles of homework the kids teachers sent home with them. Wednesday we were back in DL and riding all of our favorite rides. We then went to the Blue Bayou for dinner and lucked out by getting a seat right on the water. I was also happy because I got the Surf and Turf and last year they would not let me substitute a second lobster tail for the steak but they did this year. Since I love lobster but don't like red meat I was really excited about it. Thursday was DCA again and then Friday we started in DL at 9am. My mother-in-law has MS and by Friday she was really tired so all the in-laws separated from us and went at their own pace for the day. It was pretty busy but not too horrible. Parker tried to get chosen for the Jedi Training Academy but he didn't get picked. He was kind of upset but Star Tours made up for it. He cracks up on that ride and when the fighters are shooting at the Death Star he yells "Take that! Oh Yeah! See How you like that!" He does that everytime we ride it and the people around us always crack up at him. It is pretty cute! Around 4pm we headed over to DCA to watch the Pixar Parade and ride our favorite rides one last time. Then we headed back to DL and grabbed a quick hot dog and staked out a place to watch the fireworks. Both Tink and Dumbo flew and the kids were blown away as always. We had reserved seats for the 10:30 Fantasmic!so we met back up with the in laws. The new dragon is really cool and the kids loved the show. Then we rode Splash and BTRR one last time and headed back to the hotel. As we were heading back down main street to the gates both kids were crying because they did not want to leave DL. Saturday we checked out of the hotel, spent way too much money in the World of Disney store, and then headed to the airport to fly home. It was a great and exhausting trip and I wish I was still there. I will be posting pictures soon but wanted to get this in before I forgot what we did.
