I mean could I get by playing for now on my current tv?

The Blu-Ray player is a big deal too. And with the PS3 slim just released, it makes the decision even trickier. If you want a blu-ray, I'd probably go with the PS3. I'd also go check out Amazon and look at some of the games you might want to play and get a sense of how many are on both formats. If having Gears of War and Halo are high on your priority list, might want to consider that as well.

That said, I love my PS3... I have had no problems with it and up until recently, worked great as my Blu Ray player (I just bought a dedicated Blu Ray player).

Also, if you plan on hooking it up wirelessly, thePS3 has it built in. I love that feature...

But ecdc is right, head to Best Buy and play the demos of each system to get an idea of which you'll prefer... They are both good systems, but you definitely want the one you'll use more and get more out of it!

PS3 is great to have also, if your going to get a blue ray player, buy the ps3
too, it is far superior to any other blue ray dvd player out there, and you can get a few games and movies free if you look around for the best deal, best buy ...ect...go for both...the boys say....

I inherited an Xbox earlier this year and have been really enjoying it. DH was primarily interested in it because he likes using it to connect to our photos and music. I mostly use it to play games and watch Netflix stuff. That's the cool thing about game consoles these days - it isn't just about the games anymore.

I think that, on the whole, gamers tend to prefer the Xbox due to the variety of games and how the console really is an entertainment center. On the other hand, if Blu-Ray is really important to you, you may want to purchase the console that's going to do double duty for you.
