I've loved Larry since he and his brother were writers on In Living Color. I really like his new show. I hope he can sustain the quality every night.

After the latest visit a few months ago from our resident sociopath Beaumandy (I'm not using that term as rhetorical one upmanship; look up the traits--the dude is a fully fledged sociopath), I deleted my bookmarks for LP to force myself to have to type in the web address. A big part of my work requires me to be online a lot, so I got in the habit of stopping by here and I visited too much and wasted too much time here when I frankly have better things to do. I'm sure people got tired of my name popping up in WE's in every other post. Honestly, I don't want to get all navel gazy or make this about me or have yet another "LP isn't the same anymore" conversation. I've really, really loved these boards. Been posting here twelve or more years. Smart, insightful, fun people. Hard as it might be to believe, this is really the only place I come and discuss politics. I mean, I post stuff on Twitter and occasionally on Facebook, but for the most part, this is it, and I have no desire to start up elsewhere--you think we get heated. People are freaking crazy. I really enjoy it here. Plus, in real life, I'm an introverted dude who's not super social. Don't get me wrong--I'm not a hermit. I'm happily married, love my kids, and have great friends. But I've never been to an LP meet and it's not easy for me to meet new people, so Dabob2 is the only guy here I've ever met in real life. It was great meeting him and I hope to someday meet a few others. But the dynamic of the boards has clearly changed. Fewer people post here. With a handful of exceptions, the WE's boards are the Usual Suspects saying the usual things, including me. Even the non-WE's boards have changed. It seems most people have migrated to Facebook or other forums. And that's cool. And I don't blame the site owners or the site moderators for checking in only occasionally. They owe us zilch and with fewer people posting, they likely make less money on the site and therefore have less time or reason to invest in it. But the last round of three or four weeks of a sociopath bullying and treating people like garbage, then more sock puppets popping up to respond to him (I admired the effort but it's just more feeding the troll) with nary a mod in sight, woke me up that this place isn't the same and I need to cut back on how much time I spend here. I'll still be checking in and posting, but it was a good wake up call that I need to use my time more wisely. I'm spending less time online overall and more time reading and with my family. I've been visiting LP more this past week or two, but I'll likely cut back a bit more again.

You can type until your fingertips are bloody, but with absolutely no appreciable result. I know I'm not a much respected person here. I tend to post more emotionally than rationally. Then afterward, gather my thoughts only to realize errors. But it's been a good outlet when I'm frustrated. So I both thank and apologize to the regulars here. But even if I don't post, I always love to read the ideas, arguments, and plain musing of so many who post their thoughts here. Thank you, folks.

I think these things are cyclical, and I've just been a little less interested in posting political stuff lately, though the horrible urge may resurface. I like Wilmore's show too. I think it may need a few months to really find its signature style (as indeed Colbert and Oliver needed), but I've enjoyed it already.
