My wife works in Tarzana [even though it's 40 miles from us too ;( ] She recommended the Marriott in Woodland Hills CA, however when I looked up rates they were over $200 a night.

The first hotels that came to my mind were the Sheraton or Hilton at Universal Studios [Universal City CA] Good hotels centrally located in the areas you mentioned. I searched expedia by choosing the dates Nov. 21-23 and the Hilton Universal is $129 a night, I have been to events there and it is a nice hotel. That's a deal for that hotel in my opinion, the Sheraton was $169

There is a hotel in Studio City called "Sportsman's Lodge" I have never stayed overnight there, but have been to many events/meetings/dinners there. It is a nice place. A bit older, has a hunting theme, but it's in a nice area, popular place, good service. $126 a night

Coast Anabelle Hotel in Burbank CA looks nice, and it's close to Disney studios, kinda cool to see the mouse house from the freeway, $129

stay away from Van Nuys, North Hollywood area, most of the hotels there are seedy. Hollywood is a mixture, there are decent hotels, but they are $$$$ the less costly ones are the seedier ones in Hollywood.

I also don't recommend the Burbank Radisson, a business associate told me he stayed there one night and complained that it was one of the worst hotels he ever stayed at.

    good luck

about a 15-20 minute drive... On every third Sunday of the month, Carolwood Pacific opens Walt's barn at LA Live steamers in Griffith Park Los Angeles. After visiting the barn and taking a free ride on a scale train, wander over to the carousel that Walt used to take his daughters to on Saturdays which sparked the idea for Disneyland.
