It was investigated by the company, then hushed up because they were more concerned with image than correcting wrong-doing. Is this part of the free market, when companies with the most money can bribe their way to permits and zoning changes so they can continue to expand? Is that good for the market and competition? And yet, there will still be those who see the words "New York Times" and "Wal-Mart" in the article and immediately choose up sides, insist that all is well, and defend shopping there since it's just so cheap. Reasonable regulations are important; it appears that Wal-Mart most likely broke the law.
