I just booked a vacation package for June 7 thru June 13 (Only 44 days to go!). This will be my first time staying at a moderate resort and we selected Caribbean Beach resort because the landscaping looks amazing. I'm conserned because the Disney rep said the main pool is being refurbished. Has anyone stayed here recently and is the construction going to be a noise issue or a hinderance? Are we better off staying at Port Orleans Riverside (aka Dixie Landings). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thats pretty wierd considering that well be there at the exact same time! It comes down to personal preference though. You can either have no pool, or an ok pool at Riverside. The convenience of Riverside is nice though, since you can ride boats to DTD, and do the little boat things that are rather enjoyable. Its up to you though. Personally, Id take POR, but if you like the look of CBR, take it! Does that help?

I just don't want to feel like I'm in the middle of a construction project while on vacation. That's my main concern. Based on personal taste I prefer the ambience of the Caribbean Beach over POR. I believe CBR also has water crafts. This is a tough decision.

So unless you're nearby or have a room that has a view of the main pool, I doubt you would ever notice any construction. If you take a look at trekkeruss' very handy link the main pool is at Old Port Royale which is kind of the hub for the resort with the main pool and the food court and Shutters restaurant. There's only a couple buildings off to either side of Old Port Royale. The one time my husband and I stayed at CBR we were in the furthest building of Trinidad South. It took us if I remember corrently 15 minutes to walk from our room to Old Port Royale. I think a UFO could've come and lifted off with the main pool and we never would've noticed from our room location!

There are no rooms close enough to the main pool to be bothered by noise. Even inside the main building/food court area we couldn't hear anything. They put small waterslides at the pool in Barbados (where we stayed) and at another pool on the other side of the resort. My boys (12 and 8) enjoyed them. They have a schedule of kids events posted outside of Shutters (the restaurant) and my boys also enjoyed pool games, chalk drawing and crab soccer with the rec workers at different areas around the resort. Because the main pool was closed they also had family nights and Castaway Cay (I think that's what it's called) in the center of the lagoon. We saw a Disney movie one night and played lawn games another. They really worked hard to make up for the closure of the pool. we will probably stay there again next Feb. Let us know how your stay is!

Originally Posted By sun-n-fun Martinique is the closest to the main building. We stayed in Barbados twice which is the next one over. Not too far but probably a 15 min walk round trip. The Barbados pool has a slide put on, Martinique does not. (The farthest Martinique building is next to the closest Barbados building - if that makes any sense). If you stay on the other side side of the main building you'll have to walk around construction. The rooms do have refirgerators, but not microwaves. We are so comforatable staying there DS12 would go alone to fill his mug. It's a very relaxing place to stay. After staying there twice we did learn that we want to spend 2 entire days just at the resort next time (this year we only did one). The first time our room opened up to a little quiet area with benches, tables and chairs. Perfect to get some air while the kids are still in the room. OHH you are making me want to go back NOW. Let me know how it turns out.

Id actually choose it over AKL, which we have also stayed in. Enjoy!
