Somehow, he managed to get the required number of signatures to get his name on the ballet as an independent. After the election (he didn't win, thankfully) I was talking to my parents, usually very stable and thoughtful people, and found out that they had voted for him. When I asked why I was told, "He had a nice sounding French name."

    There really is no hope!

You just summed up my feelings perfectly.

I'd like to think that Santorum couldn't carry any swing state; I can't imagine him appealing to moderates, especially as he gains greater scrutiny as he does better in the polls. The national media has largely ignored him up till now, and Romney has largely focused his fire elsewhere, till very recently.

But when moderates get a good look at him, I don't think they'll like what they say. It just came out today that in 2008 he said that mainline Protestantism (i.e. Presbyterians, Methodists, Episcopal) "is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it."

    <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/18/rick-santorum-protestantism_n_1286471.html" target="_blank">http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...471.html</a>

So I like to think Obama would have an easier time beating him than Romney... and so part of me was glad to see the Romney express put on hold.

OTOH... though I wouldn't LIKE to see a President Romney, I could live with a President Romney. I'd have a much harder time dealing with a President Santorum. I just can't root for this guy, even to drag the thing out and damage Romney in the process. That's what I was hoping Gingrich would do.

    Fan-freaking-tastic.

Frothy Mix should feel insulted to be compared to Santorum.

"One of the mandates is they require free prenatal testing in every insurance policy in America," Santorum, a conservative Roman Catholic, told a Christian Alliance luncheon in Columbus. "Why? Because it saves money in health care. Why? Because free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and therefore less care that has to be done, because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society."

He added that the requirement was "another hidden message as to what President Obama thinks of those who are less able."

He then passed out Santorum 2012 Tin Foil hats for all in attendance.

Things like gestational diabetes, certain diseases, and if the mother is Rh- (negative blood type) are all things that can cause pregnancy or delivery complications, but those risks are rarely fatal to the mother or baby if proper care is taken.

No pre-natal testing=more mothers dying from pregnancy or delivery complications and more still-born babies and miscarriages.

This guy really has no respect at all for women...to him we are nothing more than baby machines, house keepers, and child-care providers.

I'm not really all that convinced he'll be POTUS but I'm learning 'O Canada', just in case.

Even for the conservatices it's a no go to use abortion, birth control and sex education. We even learned in school about these things. However from time to time there are groups who are against abortion and finally we got a law that protects women from such groups. It's the choice of the mother and not of such groups.

It is a wonderful country and I met great people when studying over there. I still have contact with them and can't wait to visit some of them next year.

Although we had very different views on some things, like religion and politics, we had a fantastic time. However once I was called a communist after I explained them our social security system. Never talked to them again.

Most Americans would never believe that Pittsburgh, PA would even be on the list. ;-)

I do not understand why we think we have to be #1 or why we can't acknowledge that there are other places that are better. I guess I'm not really all that competitive.

*Seattle is #48 so lucky me! :)

From a tourist point of view I really enjoyed Pittsburgh. We have been there for three days.
