    My favorite thing Joan Rivers did is something few seem to know about. In the 70's (when I was having babies) she wrote a book about Melissa called "Having a Baby Can Be a Scream." It really made me laugh and got me through some trying times. I wish I could find a copy of it.

    I get fiercely defensive of comedians, because comedy is so important and I think they walk a tight rope. Comedians have to be surprising and they have to push boundaries, but then there's an audience full of people ready to be offended whenever their own personal taboos are breeched.

    Joan Rivers wasn't always perfect, wasn't always funny, and wasn't always tasteful, but she never apologized for a joke. I love her for that.

    Similar to Don Rickles, who is a really sweet guy, Joan Rivers as a comic was a character she was playing.

    To a more mild degree, Regis Philbin has on-screen persona that is part of a schtick.

    Loved her on Fashion Police.
    Remember her as that strange puppet in 'Superstar Limo'? LOL!

    She was one of a kind.
