Dear Box Of Rocks In Your Head, California is doing just that. Governor Brown would love to do so, but the minority GOP is blocking it because of the archaic provisions of Prop 13.

And California ain't the only one: <a href="http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/nationnow/2011/12/ny-governor-legislature-reach-a-deal-to-raise-taxes-on-the-rich-and-reduce-them-for-the-middle-class.html" target="_blank">http://latimesblogs.latimes.co...ass.html</a> <> New York’s governor and legislative leaders struck a deal Tuesday to raise taxes on the wealthy and slightly reduce them for the middle class. The deal reflects the first restructuring of the New York tax code in years and will net an additional $1.9 billion in revenues for the state in 2012. The plan -- negotiated in record speed considering Albany’s usual gridlock -- is expected to be approved by the state Legislature in the next few weeks. "Our state government has come together in a bipartisan manner to create jobs, grow our economy and, at the same time, enact a fair tax plan that cuts taxes for the middle class," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement released with state leaders. Cuomo noted that the deal creates the lowest tax rate for the middle class in 58 years. <> More at the link, folks.

Hint, Donny: when you hear things on your radio that (almost by definition) have been manipulated and selectively chosen to make a particular political point look "correct" (which all partisan shows do, but which right-wing radio is especially prone to do), don't just say "Aha! I knew it!" and then regurgitate it back here. I mean, that's what they want you to do, but resist the urge. Don't just accept what they say. Investigate a little. You just might learn something.

But he'd rather show up here with his right-wing talking points and shove it in our faces, as if he knows everything and we know nothing. "In your face, liberals. HA!" At least we can be certain of three things in life: Death, taxes, and that Donny is never going to change.

Originally Posted By skinnerbox << I still like to think that Donny could too. Just a teeny bit of fact-checking on his part, and he'd have a very difficult time maintaining his current belief system. And on a deeper level, I think he knows this. Until he experiences a major life change, like long-term unemployment resulting in financial hardship, he's going to continue viewing the world through his particularly narrow distortion lens.
