But, to be honest, I am surprised at how "well behaved" folks are at Disney. Considering the volume of people who go through the parks on a given day it really is amazing.

We got inside and I could not find a CM anywhere until the one entered who starts the show. The person I was with and I were chatting about it as the show began when we realized the family was in front of us. The wife/mother continued to give the old man dirty looks and then me as well, when she realized I was talking about her and her husband's rude behavior. Ironically, the smallest child started having a tantrum about 3 minutes into the show and they all got up and left. If they hadn't, I was definitely going to try and find a CM at the exit.

Sorry for the long post, but the awful behavior I witnessed that day is still hard to believe (and I live in NYC!), particularly directed towards a senior who did nothing intentionally wrong or mean.

When I got off and complained, I was offered a fast pass for my troubles. I politely declined, saying that I wish Disney would have the same regard for a family of four as they did for a group of tourists.

Another time, a woman in line for HM encouraged her young child to urinate next to the nearest trash can instead of having to get out of line. When I complained about that incident, I was told that Disney was sorry for my inconvenience, while the woman whjo i reported gave me looks that could kill, as if I had done something wrong.

Moral of these stories- Grin and bear it. Disney really doesn't care.

Second, Disney could have protected me from the splashing because chances are that they actually saw it. There are cameras throughout the rides.

I would have expected Disney to either reprimand the guilty parties or ask them to leave the park.

Making an example out of those with bad behavior and punishing those who offend is certainly going to do more to discourage repeat offenders than doing nothing at all.

By using the cameras to nab the guilty parties or by escorting them out of the park when they got off the ride.

My wife and I assumed that he was joining up with his family so we didn't say anything. We watched him and noticed that he stopped and it appeared that he just couldn't get through the line any further. Within a minute, two more teenagers came by us and nudged my kids out of the way as they were passing through. Come to find out those teenagers were with this inconsiderate man. You could see that this man was up to no good because he was very neverous and kept motioning for his kids be quiet and not to talk about it. This man and his three kids were not meeting up with anyone in the line. I watched the other guests and everyone they past in line were talking about this rude man but no one said anything to them. I was a little surprised since you could tell that people were really ticked off by this situation. We went through the preshow and while waiting to get on the ride the line stopped and this man just happened to be stopped next to me. I felt compelled to say something so I politely but firmly told him what I thought of his little stunt and how impressed I was of the good example he was setting for his childern. After I said that to him just about everyone that this guy past in the queue either thanked me for saying something or said "good job" for saying something to this man. I think he was quite embarrassed when he saw the reactions of the other guests in line.

What I have to tell myself ( andmy wife tells me all the time) - is the options for us - and I feel for Disney in general these days, with rude behavior so out of control everywhere from Disney - to ballparks - to museums -- is:

How much confrontation do we want. I am sure you wanted to wait for one of the tour groups smart alecs afterwards and confront them, but as you are there with your family in the end is it the best thing ? If I am running the parks I have to ask the same thing. I've got 25,000 people there and maybe 200 or so are just complete jerks ( fill in any number - maybe it's 500) - at what point do I start asking CM's to confront them in front of all my other guests / kids etc ? Are the CM's prepared if this escalates - which with the biggest jerks almost guarantee it will ? Do I want more security ( trained to deal with goofs) - around and let them handle it ?

Some tough choices to be sure .....

I hate the behavior as much as you do and yet I am not sure I have one sure fire answer for this. It seems like years ago making an example out of a few people would get everyone else to behave...today, it could start a riot in some crowds. tough choices...I try and avoid any confrontations while there...some times with more success than others..

if it's something directed at me I try and just ignore - or no more than a comment, but once I had a man literally shove my then 6 year old out of the way and she hit her hip onthe turnstile at the entrance to HM and started to cry, because he 'had; to get thru now and she was in his way - and I oh so nicely ;-) face to face explained to the man how he was going to apologize to her or we were both going to be taken from the park but only one of us would still be upright...he understood completely. Of course my wife was upset...and even afterwards I wondered if it was the right thing...my wife calls it my South Side of Chicago response ( the area where I grew up )-

I was disgusted! Another time another group was waiting for the voyage of the little mermaid and one of the adult leaders started his group of younger kids chanting something in another language and he encouraged them to bang on a nearby garbage can while chanting...A cm did come out and get them to stop but it's like, what is it with these people???? Do they act like this in their own countries or do they feel invisable because nobody can understand them? Don't they see how everyone looks at them when behaving like this? Also, I've noticed a majority of the "problems" are with people who are from other countries...I always shake my head and say, hmm, and people say Americans are rude! OO, I've also noticed one time a guy smoking a cigarette ON peter pan!!! He put out his cigarette while waiting on line, kept it in his hand then lit the same cigarette when he boarded the ride...what a pig!

Sadly yes! At DLP and the Spanish themeparks, the behaviour by the local groups are terrible. Because they are largely unsupervised, they act like idiots.

The one that got me was at DLP on IASW in May. A few teens were smoking on the ride. I asked them to stop in many languages and they ignored me pretending not to understand - I tried English, French, German, Dutch, Spanish and Italian along with gestures.

It resulted in giggling a splashing of my kids. When we got off, all th cast member did was wag her finger.

Also, I'll never forget the boys smoking a coke bottle bong in Discoveryland.

And for the record, Americans in europe are largely an embarrassment too.

To be fair, I have also seen this with US cheerleader groups in CA and FLA too.

We are always on the lookout for the flags, if my wife or I see a flag we say "flagger" and go in the opposite direction. I don't like to stereotype people but more often than these groups tend loud, obnoxious and sometimes innappropriate in their behavior. We were in the COP queue one time and we saw this woman tell her son to go pee in a bush because she didn't want to get out of the line.
