I told some people, I did a little barnburner of a speech in San Antonio last night; and it is very, very clear that Senator McCain has decided on a campaign that doesn't give people reason to vote for him. I mean, he went out at his convention, and do you remember the big finale at his convention? CALLER: Yes. RUSH: "Fight with me, fight with me, fight with me, fight! Join me, join me! Fight with me!" He's not fighting. CALLER: Right. RUSH: Sarah Palin goes out and says, "There's only one man that's fought for you in this campaign." He's not fighting. Now, this is their strategy. He's not giving people a reason to vote for him. He could, but for some reason, he won't. You can talk about earmarks and -- CALLER: Right. Right. But why doesn't he give it? Why doesn't he give people a reason not to vote for Obama? Why doesn't he bring these things up about Ayers and Dohrn and Raines and everybody else? Democrats aren't going to vote for him and Republicans are. He needs to appeal to the middle and he's failing because they aren't interested in this crap this time around. A new poll shows undecideds moving decidedly towards Obama.

In the 2000 campaign I had a lot of friends who wanted him stripped of any and all affliation with the GOP because of his lack of faithfulness to the party. That has never really gone away.

Of course, he left out the troublesome fact that the policies he bellowed most loudly in favor of were all disasters. But you know that old saying about success having many fathers... Just a month ago, Limbaugh was calling McCain "McBrilliant" for selecting a "hot babe" like Palin. His website showed close ups of her legs. Then a funny thing happened. After the bumbling appearance with Katie Couric, you couldn't find a mention of Sarah Palin on his site to save your life. No leg photos. No nothing. I hope they follow Limbaugh's advice and get real nasty. Because that is exactly what moderates and independents are sick of. Go on and keep appealing to the "base" of dittoheads, it's worked so very well for them as recently as 2006.

Since McCain wasnt a 'true conservative', they were just going to call this election a 'wash' or something like that. Of course, now things have changed, or have they? Maybe he still doesnt want McCain in there and just think they can wait it out in 4 years and try and get someone who speaks to the heart of his paycho party. Maybe he briefly changed his mind when Palin was announced and like EVERYONE in that party it seems, he was an automatically smitten....until she had to actually start responding to questions and he just gave up again.

Some won't be voting at all, others will hold their noses but do it. Bottom line is they know this next president is getting handed a verrrry bad hand to play and they would like to see McCain suffer through it as "punishment" but that would hurt the party too much. So they would be let it hit the fan with Obama at the helm because that would hurt the Dems more and Dems deserve it because it's their fault anyway. Then, with Obama taking the hit for the next 4 years, the GOP could come in like a cowboy on a trusty steed in 2012. Palin-Romney 2012!

He'd much rather spend time wailing away at the party in charge rather than being reduced to the role of GOP apologist like he has been for most of the time since Bill Clinton left office.
