As glad as I am to have it, I would prefer it to be a companion to the real soundtrack. What I'm wanting to know is if anyone knows where I can find out who's singing each song, as iTunes only has it listed as "Various Artists". I'm sure there's some sort of LP database (that's Long Playing, not Laughing Place) out there, but I can't seem to find one.

How can it be "the original soundtrack album" but not the "actual recordings used in the film?" I thought that's what original soundtrack means.

Chances are the "various artists" are not even credited on the album, but were really studio singers (often billed as the "Disney Studio Chorus").

And I doubt there was ever an actual "original soundtrack" album for "Saludos", that is one with the actual recordings from the film. But, the "original soundtrack version" of the title song is available on the "Music of Disney: A Legacy of Song" set.

Btw, another good Disney music site is:

I know there's never been an official soundtrack, but I'm sure Randy Thornton could work his magic in making one from the recordings used for the film, but due to it's general unpopularity, that's probably never going to happen. The soundtrack I want more than any other is Make Mine Music. That at least has a chance of making it with names like Benny Goodman and The Andrews Sisters on it. Here's hoping.

And, thanks, ToonK, for clearing that up. I rarely care for anything but original soundtrack recordings.

There are no singer credits on the album, and I have my doubts that that's really Dora Luz on "You Belong to my Heart" -- I think the LP jacket would have said so if it was, it doesn't sound like her, and it's obviously a late 50s recording job.

The album also contains songs from The Three Caballeros. There has never been a "true" soundtrack album release for either movie.

Too bad you can't see the Mary Blair cover art. Well, unless you go here: <a href="http://www.animationarchive.org/2006/10/media-50s-and-60s-album-covers.html" target="_blank">http://www.animationarchive.or

It was no help in this case, but if you're interested in such things (and even if you don't think you are), you really should pick up "Mouse Tracks: The Story of Walt Disney Records" by Hollins and Ehrbar.
