    This is more accurately a kind of performance art using an unusual form of illustration. (And loud music.) Practitioners of this sort of thing seem to have adopted the term "Sand Animation," but that's really not what it is.

    Here's some *real* sand animation that you may have seen before. Same kind of technique, but shot frame-by-frame using a film camera:
