What the hell is she babbling about? Did she not understand Greta Van Susteren's question? Or is she so intent on trying to outwit Obama that she's unknowingly stumbling over herself and thus looking and sounding like a complete moron?

When has SHE ever admitted that anything she has said or done has been wrong. Got a link for that William? I'd love to see it.

In any case, gaffe-prone as he is, I would say Biden is about a thousand times smarter and more knowledgeable about EVERYTHING (well, maybe not good recipes for moose-pie and how to recognize the deadliest possible firearm at a gun show, but everything else) than that woman.

As for this latest thing, I had to shut it off after only a minute. Her voice gives me a headache (or maybe her vibe...or probably a combo of it all).

Nice job guys. If the speechwriting doesn't work out, I hear Michelle Bachmann has an opening for a good videographer.

    I finally did it.

Since I don't want anything to do with nor trust any politician or pundit naturally I rarely watch videos that are posted on here of all these villains the 12 of you collectively love to hack on day in and day out. But I did it this time.

Is that a real question Dr.? You really don't know what she was talking about?

    Her point is clear:
    The USSR created Sputnik
Sputnik was a huge burden on Soviet resources
The USSR relied on a centrally planned economy to pay for that project
The USSR ultimately broke down largely because of that economic model
Thus, the US should not have its 'Sputnik' moment due to the colossal public expenditures associated with it and instead have a 'Spud nut' moment based on successful private ventures.

In other words Palin feels private enterprise rather than government is the answer to the US fiscal woes.

See, that wasn't so hard to understand.

Except for that pesky little fact that it wasn't accurate. Sputnik or the space program did not bankrupt the Soviet Union. Nor did our space program, launched in response to Sputnik, bankrupt us. In fact, it led to many advances quite apart from any moon missions that continue to benefit us today and have thus paid for themselves many times over. Palin obviously does not understand this.

Exactly. It was the military build up that broke the Soviet Union nearly 30 years later, not their space program.

Barboy, isn't it clear by now that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be speaking on such subjects? It boggles the mind to think that this moron may very well throw her hat in the ring as a Presidential candidate next year. My advice to Palin is to shut your mouth and go back to college or stay home and cook dinner for your family. I suspect she probably too stupid to do that by herself without setting the house on fire.

And the reciprocal holds true around here also:
It looks like some disagree with everything she(and other popular villains) says, while not having the slightest idea what she is talking about.

Since I believe in a near absolute freedom of speech(in all its forms, too) naturally I say she and all of the other interchangeable villains should be allowed to yap up a storm even if she and the others rally a misinformed base.

Just because she lacks credibility doesn't mean she should be silenced on any subject be it cooking or Sputnik.

I don't think he was talking about private enterprise vs. government-funded programs.

    Context can be everything.

Well, no - several of us have demonstrated that we know more about Sputnik, not to mention what Obama was driving at, than Palin did. Not that that was difficult.

And yes, we know what SHE was trying to say. That private investment is better than government investment. To me, that depends on what we're talking about, but that's neither here nor there. The point is, what she said was a non-sequitur to what Obama said. He wasn't talking about private vs. public, but rather the "wake-up call," as FaMulan put it, that Sputnik was widely regarded as being.

<Just because she lacks credibility doesn't mean she should be silenced on any subject be it cooking or Sputnik. >

And just who here could possibly "silence" her if they wanted to? I wouldn't want to, as I believe any idiot should be able to yammer on as much as he/she likes. And I certainly wouldn't be able to.

Nor, apparently, can anyone else, as the woman simply can't seem to keep her mouth shut, and the media - far from wanting to "shut her up" - has already given her bushels more air time than she warrants on any objective scale. Congress actually contains some brilliant people (along with the run-of-the-mill pols) but you won't see any of them a tenth as much as you will Sarah Palin.
