We talked on the phone and she told me and asked me to keep it from the family until she can tell most everyone at once in person this fall, but me and Erin, my sister and brother-in-law's only siblings respectively, are the only ones to know. This is sooooo weird...I mean of course it's good and happy and everything, but it's really thrown me for a loop, much less my sister! LOL While we were on the phone things kept hitting me ("OMG! It's gonna have a name!", "WHOA, you have this little life inside you *right* *now!*", etc., lol). But it's really strange on my end because I've been the youngest in the immediate family all my life, and there has been no baby born in our family on either side in 20 years. And (I know this may sound weird/stupid, lol) it was kind of a morality check...hmmmm, here's this little baby who's gonna be a generation younger than me and if they outlive me, then they can remember me and tell their friends/family about me---ack!" It's this dual thing inside now of "I'm so young, I'm still the baby of the family!/Hey here's this new baby who's gonna be 28 years younger than you--you're a grown-up!" LOL For someone who's always been the youngest and sees themself as an Eternal Youth type, that's just very hit-home-ing. But poor Tara...or should I say, poor Sean. I told her, "And as emotional as you can get, can you imagine what--" and before I could finish she cut in with "OMG I know, I already told Sean it's like PMS for 9 months and 'I am so sooooo sorry for what it's gonna be like'" LOL. But she and Sean would make wonderful parents (not me...uncle maybe [I guess we'll see--ack!] but not a dad [*gulp*]), so I have no worries about this baby's upbringing in the home. She and I had some big laughs on the phone (including when she said she "did the Exorcist thing" after she ate egg salad a la pea soup, and what came out totally looked inhuman so she thought something must be up with her, LOL), and it was a very fun/interesting/shedding-new-light phone call. It's this weird life passage for me on one level, and for her on another MUCH bigger one I can only imagine, lol. I actually had to step outside while on the phone to get some fresh air---Lord, I bet I'd have to be hospitalized if I ever became a father, LOL (that still seems such a foreign concept...I'm totally an Eternal Youth, not a Grown Up Father). Dad would like a grandchild and Mom has been ACHING for one, lol, so this should satisfy their appetites! So there we go...around the end of May, if all goes well, "Uncle Byron"/"Uncle TDG". Wow...this baby stuff is big business!

I have 8 of them total (3 sisters) and they are such a wonderful blessing. It is very fun to watch them grow. You are going to love it. And, no matter what, you still have to own up to being a grown up at some point. Doesn't mean you can't still be a kid at heart/mind/body/spirit, but it does mean that you now get to share that spirit with a new one. How cool is that?
