The once-feisty, always silly and fun, ever-the-puppy personality had diminished so much... we just knew. On Wednesday morning, we took him to the vet together - I drove the Pilot and Mr. Alice reclined in the back with Eddie, just as he would do on the floor of the exam room with him. The staff greeted us so warmly (what a terribly difficult part of their jobs this is... I give them SO much credit for their hearts) and the three of us went into the exam room for the procedure. We stayed with Eddie until he slipped away from us, so quietly. We miss Eddie so much - especially Mr. Alice who had the little guy from the time he was a small handful. They bird hunted together (Eddie was crackerjack in the field) and were best buddies for almost 13 years... Eddie's birthday is next Tuesday. I know we're in a family of animal lovers here who've shared their own stories of loss... We felt it was important to do the same. Hugs to all.

I can tell he was a happy little guy. You'll be in my thoughts this weekend.

You made the best decision possible for Eddie. You loved him out of his pain. I hope your happy memories of Eddie will out weigh the pain you are now feeling very soon.
