We started by driving to Santa Clarita and getting up early to get to Magic Mountain by opening. What a great time. Mild weather and we did everything we wanted and were out by 1:30. Rode Goliath 5 times, Superman twice, did the Goldrusher, bumper cars, Revolution and Log Jammer. We got soaked on that but it was okay as it was warming up.
Then it was so cool to only have an hour to go to get to Disneyland. We got to our hotel, checked in, had a rest and I fixed us a good dinner. (We do not eat Park food.)
We got to Disneyland just as the parade was starting so we watched it and hopped on the train right at the end. We rode it around the park and a half. Got off at Toontown for Roger Rabbit. We just wandered the Park riding whatever struck our fancy not having a schedule or time table. We left early to get a good night’s sleep for a fun Friday. I did finally face Main Street and did not burst into tears. But I have to say now that some of the Magic is gone for me. I hope it is just MIA and will return; but with my daughter’s current attitude that may be a long time coming. The whole trip kept bringing up memories of the unfortunate event but I also kept thinking of the great fun Chloe and I had. I think that may be why I had to go. To remember the good and let it overshadow the sad.
Friday was just a have fun and relax day. We got to DCA at opening and headed for Screamin’ but it was down. We did SWoD, Maliboomer and by then our Soarin’ FP’s we up. It was hot and got hotter each day but we would go back to the hotel for a break under the AC and a good meal and return refreshed in the cool of the evening. This day, however, we went to do a bit of shopping. When we came out of the store we found our car to be the object of a wreck. Not too serious but a bummer nonetheless and took up two hours of our trip.
The highlight of the day was running into Rivkah86 and her sisters who were waiting for F! We had time for a good chat and then joined them at their choice viewing spot on the POTC bridge. Then we did a walking tour of the fireworks. We have seen this show from about every angle so this was knew to us. Again, we got away to eat and sleep cuz we knew Saturday would be an all dayer.
We started Saturday morning in Fantasyland and went to the petting zoo. Sad for us but happy for him; our friend who used to work there is permanently working the new Inoventions. He really wanted this so we are happy for him but miss our chats over the goats and sheep.
Then 999Haunts called and we met up and did lots of fun stuff together. We were joined at lunch by Poohbear14 and we headed for DCA and when we got to the hub saw a lot of commotion and went to check it out. There was a photo shoot and we got to do a walkthrough for a Nick Lachey commercial. What a hoot that was. Then we went to DCA and Haunts got the thrill of her life meeting Guy the chef. We did Screamin’ (waiting in the regular line); she and Poohbear were still in line. We watched the Parade; they were still in line. But they did get in and did get their pictures and autographs. Then we ran into DlandDoug and his wife and had a nice chat.
Haunts and we went to use our Space FP’s but it was down. We ended up watching the fireworks from there and that was another first. It was not a bad view and we had chairs to sit in. There was almost no crowd. I would do that again. We rode Buzz and Rod and I decided to call it a night. We were beat.
Sunday was the only day we got there early. It was well worth it. We did Fantasyland and rode the Matterhorn twice by 8:30. We were just ready to get onto Autopia when I noticed mele getting out of the car right in front of us. I called to her and she came over and the super duper CM let her and her daughter ride again in the car in front of us. We spent the rest of the morning with mele’s family riding Mansion, Big Thunder, Pirates, Splash and Pooh. Pirates was down all morning but as we were going from BTMR to Splash it opened and we got right on. What a neat family they are and what a good time we had together.
We went back to our hotel to eat and nap and beat that 99º heat. It was still quite warm when we went back. We just kicked back and enjoyed our last evening seeing watching the Pixar Parade, which we really liked, seeing Aladdin, riding ToT, watching the Electric Parade, Soarin’ and getting to Screamin’ just before 10PM.
Then on to close out Disneyland. I knew we would stay until midnight. We rode Space and Buzz and most of Fantasyland. Then we finished up with our favorite thing; the last Jungle Cruise of the night. And we had a great skipper. After that some last minute shopping and back to the hotel for much needed sleep.
It is nearly sacrilegious but we did not go into the Park Monday morning. Because I have to fly out to Arkansas just a few hours from now we thought we had better get home at a decent hour. The hours drug on as there was not one but two accidents on the I5. But we got home in time to eat and relax in front of the TV for a bit.
I must add that Rod went out of his way to make this my trip. So much so that it started getting irritating cuz he would not tell me what he wanted to do or if he did not want to do something. But it was really sweet and I am very lucky indeed.
I am exhausted and will not be proofreading this. Hope anyone who reads it enjoys it and does not mind the typos.

Haha! What iamsally neglected to mention was that she stood there saying "April" over and over again, trying to get my attention while I sat there like an idiot thinking "Man, I wish that lady would quit calling my name."

    LOL! Helloooo, airhead alert! ;-)

It was so fun to hang out with you and Mr. iamsally. It made waiting in the lines a breeze! And DL really agrees with you. You looked fantastic! It was wonderful to finally meet the Mr. I wish we could have hung out more while we were there. The heat finally caught up with me that afternoon. I just about passed out at the Toon Town train station. I checked the temp from my phone and it was at least 103 degrees. Yikes!

Sorry to hear about your car accident. :-(

Anyway, as always, I had a fantasmical time with you guys. I really appreciate you adopting me for the day. It was really fun to watch that Nick Lachey commercial being filmed, and I hope we see your parisol in the final cut! (Boy, teenage girls can get a little annoying, can't they?)

Anytime you are in town, I'm game ;)

HAUNTS, clones are pretty much interchangeable, you know. 3 days and counting. PB has my cell. We'll have DD29 and her DH with us. I'd love for you to meet them.

At first I thought I may never be able to go back. Then we decided I had to hurry back before I got phobic.
The trip was good but a huge part of my love for Disneyland has been 34 years of taking my children and grandchildren there. So some of the Magic is lost.

In reading how with all your DIL was going through and how you repected their need to be alone and grabbed Chloe and gave them some time alone. You gave Chloe a wonderful day that day instead of leaving her in a situation she would not have understood.
I think everyone would agree you seem to come off as a very sweet and caring person that would do anything for your family and you truely love them all deeply. With that said I hope your daughter can realize what a mistake she made - especially in a place you love so much - and realize how lucky she truely is to have a mom like you!

Well, Dave, hmmmmm, let me think....
    1) He's very cute.
    2) He cooks.
    3) He is funny.
    4) He talks more than I do.
    5) He spells "Monee" with two e's instead of with an e-y.
    6) He's so nice. Well, at least he was to us.
    7) I watched him on Food Network's "next Foodnetwork Star" and just loved his personality.
    8) Did I mention he was cute?
    9) He reminds me of some of the guys I hung out with in high school - kinda crazy.
    10) He worked his butt off to raise money to study cooking in France, so I would assume he's not lazy. I hate lazy guys.
    11) It's funny that he still uses the phrase "It's on like Donkey Kong".
    12) He's cute, too.

I am looking forward to the day when I too, can recognize LP'ers, and enjoy part of the day with them. So very, very, very glad that you had that opportunity.

And kudos to you local DL LP folk for being so nice and meeting up with the out of towners! xoxox

Your trip report was great, exhaution-typed or not...made me feel like I was right there with you and that's the perfect medicine for me right now!
