Quite the contrary, I think their misguided concern is culpable here, but I also think it goes beyond misguided. If these parents truly think she can be "cured" of whatever she might have, then that type of attitude could be more dangerous that any hate directed her way. Many child abusers don't hate their victims.

I don't see either parent as having any justification that warrants what they have done. "Curing homosexuality" What a joke. Their poor daughter is undoubtedly going to suffer termendously because of their lack of unconditional love. (I guess misguided love would be better wording.) I'm sure they love their daughter, just as Baldwin loves his child, but the acts they have both displayed because of a stressful situation is just gross. It is abuse in both cases in my eyes. Just as we didn't know the whole story in Baldwin's case, we really don't know the whole story here, and in my opinion, it just doesn't matter. What's wrong is wrong, and I just can't find any justification for either actions, no matter what led to it. BTW, I have only posted in one other controversial thread here; and there seemed to be such a lack of respect for others opinions, that I decided not to post in WE or any other thread that incited heated opinions. That's why I had not posted my opinion here. But when challenged, as in the post above, I shall arise to the occasion! LOL (I didn't mean for that to come across meanly, but I have wittnessed name calling and other retorts when one doesn't agree, and it's just not called for. I just don't want to play in that. Welcome to WE, I guess.)
