It was "open house night" at my grade school, where the parents come and talk to your teacher, and see projects you're working on, etc. All the kids in the schoolyard were joking that they hoped the prediction was true and CA would fall into the ocean, because that would cancel "open house."

I never did get why night vision goggles and camo gear would be necessary if the world was ending but that is just me. They gave a lot of that stuff to my friend as a graduation present that June. They are going to be really screwed if the world does end in 2012 and they don't have their 10 years worth of toilet paper.
