It looks like it would be about a 10-15 minute walk between the 2 hotel lobbies. SOG uses its own transportation to/from the parks, which runs less frequently than Disney transportation, so you may want to consider renting a car; I don't know if theme park parking is included in the room price or not

Make sure she brings it!! The rooms are huge and most of all quiet. The bus system runs on the hr. instead of every 20min.like all the other resorts. "Shades" does honor the EMH's however you probably won't be able to use the wristband. Not to pry but are you going anywhere else or flying in? I ask that only to tell you when we land at Orlando,we take "Tiffany" Limo Svc. right to "Shades" and they take us to either Universal or where ever else. Last time I checked its 10 or 15$ a night for your car. As far as food goes we always went across the street to the Poly for breakfast lunch and dinner at the park of the day but when you got back we enjoyed "Evergreens" its a sports bar atmosphere. Food is really good especially the pizza. Also at the Poly you can grab the bus or the monorail. Haven't been in June, we've always gone in Nov. or Dec. but they have 2 good size pools. I highly recommend staying there if you want a nice quiet comfortable night. The cost of the room is based on your sis in law's rank also theres no tax on the room. If I can be of any other service to you please don't hesitate to ask. Have a great time!! FYI, the "Shades" got its name by every military uniform has a Shade of Green on it.

We got a package that inculed both breakfast and dinner (last seating 9:30PM) at the resort. It will be a different kind of vacation for me as I love the WDW dining..but I am open to a more relaxed vacation. I am celebrating a milestone birthday (the ONLY reason I would ever go in June!) so I am hoping to utilize those pools..

When your sis in law makes your reservation you can buy your tickets right over the phone and will be waiting for you when you arrive. Or use the MWR Office on any nearby military installation. The difference is about $1.00 higher at the "Shades." Speaking of tickets, the last price increase was last Feb., that doesn't mean there will be one this Feb. but it might be something worth consideration. We never went in for the dinner plan however we never went hungry. According to the latest newsletter from "MouseSavers", over at the Poly, one of their restaurants(Capt'n Cooks) is now open 24hrs. (That's where we go for breakfast) Hop on the monorail at the Poly., and 3 stops later (Grand Floridian,MK then the Contempory), which has a nice place to eat right there on the bottom floor. Have Fun!!!
