Driving directions are pretty simple but for popular shows there is lots of traffic to deal with. Hotels/motels in the area are EXPENSIVE!! We paid close to $100 for a Motel6. Hope you have a fun and safe trip.

A quick look at Bestwestern's website shows a spattering of hotel's in the $65 a night range. Generally, you'll find prices falling as you get farther from Palo Alto. I've been by the Amphitheater dozens of times but I've never actually seen a show there. Make sure you plan for the traffic that will be more like a parking lot once you get off the freeway. Being from Oregon, I'll assume you know about dressing warm. Too many people have the wrong idea about California weather. We keep a collection of light jackets to toss in the trunk whenever we show guests around. You won't be able to see San Francisco Bay from there, but you will be close enough that it could be cool during the day and WILL be cool in the evening. Have fun.
