Silly Monorail question, but one that bothers me

Ok, why would they not install a rubberized floor that is non-slippery, and provides good traction? This kind of stuff is used a lot now, especially in subways, busses, etc. Maybe that is what WDW will do, but Kevin makes it sound like something that could cause an accident if it's wet...
