But it was originally closed down shortly after 9/11--for what some say were fears of terrorist activities. Rumor has it that terrorists wanted to plant a bomb inside and blow up one of America's many icons. ORDDU: Of course there are other rumors floating around that the castle MIGHT re-open at some future point. ORGOCH: Fer now, fergit the castle walk thru and git busy doin' somethin' useful--like huntin' frogs with me off the banks a the river in Frontierland!!

"Trying back later" isn't going to do you any good, so the CM was misleading you, whether on purpose or because he/she was misinformed. The castle walkthrough has been closed for some time now, and there is little hope of it ever re-opening. The CM might not know that - in which case the answer should have been, "I don't know, I'll find out for you", not just "come back later". /cs

Originally Posted By FerretAfros I believe that there were a number of things that made it close. It was also a saftey issue, since it would be very easy for people to put something bad in there and it would go unnoticed until the castle went kaboom. Also, it was not ADA compliant, and while it could be grandfathered in, it just had too many things going against it to be saved. Or at least those are the stories that I have heard.

There is now way to put a ramp, or elevator ito that part of the building. So, it is closed and probably will remain that way until they find a cure for paralysis. This was the explanation given to us by our tour guide, from the Walk In Walts Footsteps tour.(awesome, I totally reccomend it.) The bummer of this is that when I was a child that was my mothers favorite thing to do with me, just the two of us. (my dad is really tall and I guess the little staircase was a little too closterphobic for him.)But now she needs a wheelchair, because walking is hard for her. Even though, she misses the Walkthrough as our thing. Hope I could help. Cheshire Cat
